64digits - Post for YYG
August 06, 2010

[EDIT] Cool site! check out this cool site I found! it's got a bunch of neat games here too. i just found it and though I should tell you and show you guys cause you might like it too. The people there are wierd but kinda nice and it isnt just about gamemaker it is about ohter languages too even though I dont care about other languages lol :P //Cyrus Edit: Hmm, I don't like the noobish perspective. Let me rewrite it: Hello YoYo Games users! I am Cyrus from 64digits. Some of you may recognize me from YoYoGames Unofficial Chat. As you all may know, 64digits is a pretty notorious site within the GM community, growing to the point where we were even labeled as the "4chan" of Game Maker communities. However, we're not the banhammer-swinging jerks that you guys may think we are. We make an effort to maintain a sense of quality control. Look at the series of successful games that have grown out of our fertile website, not least Sapphire Tears and Adrenaline. Don't let our higher expectations discourage you from joining 64digits, however. We have always kept our arms wide open to new members and we encourage them to reach their full potential in creativity. We are not only limited to Game Maker creations any more, as our submission database is now being populated with examples written in other languages such as Unity, Java, XNA/C#, and C++. Heck, we're not even limited to game making. With blogs, people often talk about other projects that they are working on, especially those involving music, art, and web design. "WHAT ABOUT THE EPIC DOWNTIMES?!?!" you might be asking. Pfft, we haven't had one of those in forever! (although someone did attempt a Denial of Service attack on us last month, but we were back on our feet in no time). Since the last epic downtime of 2008-2009, 64digits has maintained good server stability and uptime now that we have a better host. In addition to this, users' files are automatically backed up every week, so that you can be sure that your files and blogs will be safe. 64digits' activity has skyrocketed in recent months due to the new layout of the website and the addition of an Activity Feed, thanks to KaBob799's hard work, which keeps track of ALL activity on 64digits: new blogs, games/examples/WIPs, news posts, forum posts, and comments. Thanks to the Activity Feed, our previously "dead" forum has become filled with active topics that are posted in daily. Blog activity has drastically increased as well, in which the activity no longer stops just because the blog falls off of the front page. If you want to be heard, then you WILL be heard. Sometimes we are sarcastic. Sometimes we are caring. Sometimes we are really lazy. But hey, that's what makes us unique. Feel free to join our culture and let our website's mind-altering code take over your brain. Just don't be Zaid, 'k? -Cyrus <3<3 And now, a personal note from one of the administrators: Hello, I'm DesertFox. In reference to the well-known stereotype of tyrannical mods that seems to thrive about 64D, I'm here to quell them. Quite frankly, those rumors came about several years ago, and our staff has changed greatly since then. Our current lineup of active staff mostly consists myself, KaBob799, Ferret, Eagly, Obelisk and Juju. We are a kindly bunch, just tread nicely around Juju, who only bites if it's well deserved. I suppose that is all from me! -RAWR :3 //hmm, I'm running out of content, gotta wrap this up... Peer reviews, testimonials, and suggestions are welcome. http://forums.yoyogames.com/forums/3/topics/47002 let the lulz begin...

A site in need of fixing
May 18, 2009

@Admins: Feature-wise, we might as well as revert back to the minimalistic version of 64digits from mid-March if we can't have a fully-functioning site. Then there would be less things to worry about. In addition to that, blog comments only appear when they feel like it, notably when loading a blog for the first time. I really miss smoothly browsing through this site. :|

Hello
December 16, 2008

Got a bass. Planning on getting a decent USB mic. It might sound like a dumb move, but it costs $100 and it's a major step up from what I've been using (a webcam headset). I'll move into the world of professional microphones eventually... Very nervous about colleges right now. Very. There's only one that I really want to go to, and it has a 34% acceptance rate. Pretty scary stuff. I got my application in a little over a week ago, so now I'm just waiting, waiting, waiting for them to say, "Nope." I'm pretty pessimistic about this kind of stuff. If you're a guitarist and you like to play with nonstandard tunings, I like using E G E G B E (open Em). It's really easy to transition to major, minor, and sus4 chords. Just barre everything and play around with strings 3 and 5.

Holden
November 30, 2008

If school hasn't required you to read The Catcher in the Rye yet, do it. Nothing ruins a good book like plot summaries, character analysis, and symbolism essays. I could have been Holden Caulfield. I guess my outlook is a little more optimistic, but the hatred of phoniness and of fake people is just the same. And then his relationship with Jane, her innocence... pretty much the exact same as my situation. That sickly feeling when some non-deserving guy goes on a date with her. Well, it might be the best book I've ever read. I still like all of Vonnegut's stuff, and Grendel was pretty enlightening. I don't know, but definitely read it before the school assigns it.

OK Real
October 27, 2008

K, hello to everyone. I finished another album. This one's quite a bit different from my other stuff- almost every track has guitar and vocals, so I guess you might find it more accessible... or at least, more interesting to listen to. If you want to tie a genre to it, I'd call it folk. Or freak folk. Or lo-fi. Tracklisting: 1. Friends 2. The Birds 3. A Song For Henry 4. 2D Life 5. Individuals 6. Good World (Don't Kill the Roosters) 7. Plastic Bottle 8. Tolerance Now 9. Grinning 10. Fall 11. Allergy Season 12. Wah I Cried 13. Wah I Cried [Acoustic] Obviously it'd be cool if you listened to the whole thing, but if you want to skip through most of it, go ahead- I would suggest listening to "Friends," "A Song For Henry," and "Wah I Cried" (and the acoustic version). And I really regret including "Fall," so skip over that one... It's at least partially a concept album, with friendship as the theme. I'll PM lyrics to anyone who wants them. Download Peace -G -R -J

I can't believe how long it took for me to find this genius. Read his story. The stuff of high-hairs and goosebumps. J
