Toadsanime's Innovation Contest
January 14, 2010

Sucks that this place is much more inactive than it was in its prime, especially regarding game uploads. Anyway, since we have the fortune to be able to blog here I thought I'd mention a contest I'm setting up, and some people here have been dead on game making lately anyway: http://gamejolt.com/community/forums/topics/toadsanime-s-innovation-contest/275/#post-3541 The theme is Innovation, which can be taken in any way you want. Sure, twist it as far from the original premise as you want, just tell me the relevance. The contest ends on Valentine's Day (February 14th), so you've got a while. If you're not prepared to enter a game in to the contest, any offers for the winner to be mentioned in your blog or any other prizes will be greatly appreciated. And, naturally, I'd love for anyone to spread the word about this as I want it to get at least a few entries. Thanks!

Weekly Indie-Related Show
July 01, 2009

Not sure how many of you will care (if any), and my apologies in advance if you would only see this as spamming but I see this as something at least some of you may be interested in. I'm starting up an Indie-related weekly show soon: http://gamejolt.com/community/forums/topics/weekly-indie-related-show/49/ So, yeah. Everything I need to say about it so far is there. Ta-da.

E3 for Nintendo, and the new Natal System.
June 02, 2009

This was pretty much copy-pasted from the journal entry I just made on deviantART, so this is without all the bolded parts and stuff. Excuse it being really long, somewhat over-exaggerated at points and... yeah, just really long. It'd best to read it there, I suppose: toadsanime.deviantart.com ------------ If you care about gaming at all, no matter whether you support Nintendo, Microsoft, Sony or Indie, this will be important to you. Severely important. First off below is an explanation to Microsoft's new master plan that will change the gaming market forever. At the bottom is what was announced by Nintendo at the conference, including a new Wii Mario game and a new Metroid one. To me, E3 lines up as one of my most important events of the year altogether, and stands next to the likes of Christmas and the two yearly MCM expo's. It really is that big for me. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Part 1: MICROSOFT'S 'NATAL SYSTEM' VIRTUAL CONSOLE-LIKE MASTER PLAN AT E3 THAT WILL CHANGE THE GAMING MARKET FOREVER. THIS IS WHAT I'M REFERRING TO: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=03thQvGRVvQ Right, so I've just checked up on the updates and announcements made at this year's E3 before watching Nintendo's live-feed conference which was on today. It would seem that yesterday an announcement was made that will entirely change the gaming industry forever, and could certainly pose the demise of every other gaming company. This comes in the form of Microsoft; it comes in the form of the XBOX 360, and it comes in the form of the codenamed Natal system. Watch the advertising trailer of it to understand what I'm talking about; linked above.Seriously, watch that. Whether you care about games or not, this will BLOW YOU AWAY. That thing is pratically a virtual console. As a gamer, this both excites yet worries me. I'll try to be as unbiased as possible in this journal, though being a Nintendo fan, it's somewhat difficult. I'm the kind of fan that still buys other company consoles and loves them, though, fortunately. Anyway, I'm sure your initial reaction by that video is pure astonishment and amazement. It was for me, too, though it took me about 5 seconds to ask myself what was to come of Nintendo. I mean, this can effectively be cited as an extreme upgrade of the Wii's technology. This has the potential to completely wreck Nintendo and replace its current top spot, especially if the Natal system works as well as it does in the promotional video. Apparentely, according to currently unevidenced sources on the internet, this unit announced yesterday will cost a minimum of £200 to buy seperately. In the video, the unit works perfectly - but then again, so did the Wii in theirs and we all know that didn't exactly have perfect motion sensing. Apparentely, the avatar on screen even screwed about and was irresponsible of the people testing it on stage at the conference yesterday. I say apparentely as I didn't watch the Microsoft live feed personally as I expected nothing special. Some call this just an upgrade of Sony's failed 'EyeToy'. However, I'll admit that I don't believe this is so. This is something entirely different, and even if it doesn't reach out to Wii's casual gaming market and non-gamers as it hopes to do, it'll still be astounding for XBOX 360 owners. It probably will grab Wii's audiences though, to be honest, and I've already noticed a recent decrease in people's interest in the Wii. For non-gamers, it was just a moment thing. It's not special, new or weird anymore, so some don't play on it and sell it off. This is< new, though. The Natal system features full-body sensing and movement, full voice recognition, scanning capabilities, full facial recognition and so on. If you watched the video, you would know. This is set to change everything and could appeal to a whole new market. Its only downfall is its uprise, though. For starters, there's no controller, and I like the concept of controllers. Second of all, everything needs body movement, and I don't think all gamers will be bothered to do that. Games are meant to be played for relaxation and a means to escape reality - bringing reality closer and making us exhausted through movement is pushing further than what the Wii did, and I say this in a negative way. I didn't completely like even the Wii's premise, to be honest. If gamers turn this down, especially what with there being a possibly heavy price tag, it's likely that non-gamers, which is clearly the target audience, will think the same. In any case, this console which was once thought to be the most hardcore of the lot is now certainly transforming into the most casual of the bunch. Fortunately, unless Microsoft reaches a handheld market, which they'll probably reach at some time, Nintendo still has the handheld market to reign. Otherwise, we're seeing ourselves go back to the days of being behind the game as we were with the GameCube. That will mean Nintendo will revert back to their hardcore audience. However, they've lost a lot of that audience through disloyalty towards it. Since the Wii was released, I claimed that Nintendo would regret putting the hardcore audience as their last priority as if they were again overtaken, that audience would no longer exist. It's a theory that's appearing to become a possible reality. This might pull off, it might not. Really, it all depends on whether it works as well as it appears to in the video. If it does pull off well and sells well, it'll change the gaming industry forever. As they have built upon the Wii, other companies will build upon the Natal system, meaning that we'll probably never see another game controller on a games console, and instead this new concept will continue to evolve as the dominating gaming industry concept. We'll just have to see how things go for Microsoft and Nintendo. It looks like Sony is completely out of the picture if they don't do something quick, though. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Part 2: THINGS ANNOUNCED/MENTIONED BY NINTENDO THIS E3: Wii Fit Plus, New Super Mario Bros. Wii, Wii Sports Resort, Wii MotionPlus, Kingdom Hearts: 358/2 Days, Final Fantasy - Crystal Chronicles: Crystal Bearers, Mario & Luigi RPG: Bowser's Inside Story, Golden Sun DS, Women's Murder Club - Games of Passion, COP - The Recruit, Style Savvy, DSi, Flipnote Studio Movie Maker, Mario Vs. Donkey Kong - Mini's March Again, WarioWare: Myself, Facebook/DSi interaction, Wii Vitality Sensor, The Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks, Super Mario Galaxy 2, The Conduit, Resident Evil: The Darkside Chronicles, Dead Space - Extraction, METROID: OTHER M by Team Ninja and Nintendo. It's an Adventure/Horror game, not an FPS</b>. The conference ends there, with the whole show building up to that last Metroid trailer. They even put its priority above Super Mario Galaxy 2, and it got the biggest applause of the conference. Not as bad as last year's conference, but I expected more somehow, like something to fire back at Microsoft's new master plan. There was no mention of Sin and Punishment 2 and I think everyone expected something Pikmin-related, too. Still, a new Wii Mario game, and a Metroid game that looks like my next most-wanted game; the last two being Mario Kart Wii and Smash Bros. Brawl.

[TA Update No.7] - Me And The QDB
August 23, 2008

I thought, at first, that I had been randomly mentioned in the news article regarding the new QDB, but it was just a darned usertag. Foiled again! I hope the QDB remains a part of 64D. It could be rather uplifting for me at times, so long as it keeps receiving constant updates. Anyway, I felt I should update my blog, seeing as that I don't do so here very often. I've missed out on all the latest fads here, too, but that's not much of a problem. I noticed one involved making games about people's avatars, though. Try making a game out of MY avatar. (Yeah, good luck with that...) Oh, I'll be going to the MCM Convention in London this October. I'll be dressed as my own character from a show I made once called 'Wild Devils', so if you see a guy with a kiddy-like Halloween mask on with a jester hat on top of it there, say hi to me. Or kick me in the shin. Whatever gives you a buzz. Uh... yeah, well, that's really all I have to say. If you haven't heard about the following games yet, I suggest you check them out, they're all sure to be great games when they're completed. Tormishire The Path Blueberry Garden Wii Friend Codes: Friend Code: 0481 3737 7411 0651 Mario Kart Wii: 1676 5224 4546 Guitar Hero III: 2277 8189 4117 Super Smash Bros. Brawl: 3781 0564 2656 My deviantART account is: toadsanime.deviantart.com Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm off to go play Poke'mon Gold and/or Sapphire and search for some more shiny Poke'mon. (Which reminds me, I accidentally crashed the server of Poke'mon Global once, apparentely... whoops.)

[TA Update 6] - This title isn't real.
July 08, 2008

Well, hello again, everyone. I hope you're doing well. It just occured to me that I haven't updated my blog for about a month now. Despite updating my deviantART journal 1-2 times a week, I though I'd fill you guys in here, too. First off, I bought Super Smash Bros. Brawl at 6:00AM on the day of its UK release here. It's a great game, especially if you're a Nintendo fan. And Gamestation were kind enough to give me the signs and stuff they had hanging up. There's a pic of it on my deviantART page, toadsanime.deviantart.com - feel free to add me. On the lines of the Wii, mine is now connected to Wi-Fi. Since everyone here at 64D are pretty cool towards me, feel free to add my friend codes: Friend Code: 0481 3737 7411 0651 Mario Kart Wii: 1676 5224 4546 Guitar Hero III: 2277 8189 4117 Super Smash Bros. Brawl: 3781 0564 2656 I'm trying to get some Wii points somehow. I want to buy the Wiiware game 'LostWinds' pretty badly now, as it seems excellent. Of course, I also want some Virtual Console games and the Internet Channel, too... ^_^ Anyway, let me change the subject towards freeware gaming now! Though I don't currently make games, I have been trying to help with various things on the following projects - Coloraze Spectrum and Pixel Battle. Although my objectives could easily be made obselete, I'm still happy to help in the slightest. Oh, and I'm also one of the top user reviewers at the Tigsource database, as well as the first. Go me. ¬_¬ There's a large variety of freeware games that have recently been released that you may not be aware of. Iffermoon, for one, is definitely looking up! For my deviantART account, I'm starting a series called 'Mega Clash Bros.' It's a story featuring fictional characters from basically anything, from games to anime. If you have any ideas or would like your own game character to have a cameo, just ask and I'll be happy to consider your suggestion. Apart from all of that, I don't think there's anything else that I need to mention. Oh, apart from that this week here is Gay Pride. w00t! Per usual, here's my favourite freeware game list. Underneath that for the hell of it is my favourite band list. ---------------------------------------------- (GAMES: !Xorpl, 1213, AGWAK, A Mini Falafel Adventure, Abuse, Ahriman's Prophecy, Ainevoltas, Albero And The Great Blue Emblem, An Untitled Story, Ark 22, Ball Droppings, Banana Nabana, Bokorin, BrainWorm, Brave Honey Bee, Butterfly 660, Castle of Elite, Cave Story, Chalk, Death Worm, Detoss' Law, Dink Smallwood, Dive, Duel Toys, Dumbow & Cool, Dungeon TV Factory, DUO, Duty & Beyond, Echoes, Elements of Escape, EverEternal WinterWorld, Fall From Grace, FLaiL, Garden Gnome Carnage, Gear World, Gregg The Egg, Hakaiman, Hard Hat, Hero, Hold Off Red, Ikachan, Infection, INO-vation, Jamie's Revenge, Japong, Jetz Rampage 4: Revenge, Jumper!, Karoshi, Kirubiru, Knytt, Kutar, Laxius Power, Lost In The Static, Losted, Mentamatical, Mondo Medicals, Mono, Mr.Blocko STE, Mr Chump's Ventures, Mr Heart Loves You Very Much, Mr Stump's Dentures, My First Skydiving Academy, NaaC, Nikujin, Ninjah, Noitu Love, NovaWare!, Orbital Booty Interceptor, Painajainen, Plasma Warrior, Porrasturvat, Poyo, Psychosomnium, Rekkaturvat, REZ, RunMan, Seijinsiki, Seizure Dome, Shotgun Ninja, Soldexus, SOUTH, Space Barnacle, Stepmania, Street Bike Fury, Subzero Conditions, Sunset Over Imdahl, Sunset Runner, Super Mario War, Super Sheep Dash, Survival Crisis Z, Tekyuuman, Teppodon, Teppoman, Terragon, Tetuhau, The Power, The Puppeteer, The White Chamber, Tobioriya, Toribash, Total Midget Beat Down, UFO Game, Varia, Voxelstein 3D, Wandering Knights, WildHunt, Within A Deep Forest, World of Chaos DX, Zan-Zan, Zombie Smashers X.) [TA Update 5] - Tsiletah
June 03, 2008

Ha, ha. My title is 'Hatelist' backwards. Aren't I a funny/original guy...? ¬_¬ Anyway, even if I did want to do a hatelist/lovelist, I haven't been on 64D long enough to judge anyone as of yet. Besides, everyone here seems pretty cool, in my opinion. Go you! Oh, and sorry for my previous blog entry. I know that most of you didn't have your brain eaten, but for the ones that did, I promise I'll get you a new one... somehow. Super Smash Bros. Brawl comes out here relatively soon. I've already pre-ordered mine, so I'll be getting it on its release date. I have very high hopes for it. And what's with the recent outburst of blogs...? You normally could still see your blog on the list a month later, but now there's a new full list each day. I only get internet on weekends, and occasionally about an hour of it at school, so I don't have enough time to comment them all. Also, I'm curious as to see what your favourite Freeware games are, whether they're from 64D or not. I've played a hell of a lot of freeware games, so I've probably heard of most of them... if not, I'd love to check them out. My favourites are The Power, SOUTH, Cave Story, Glace, Dink Smallwood, Voxelstein 3D, Soldexus, Stepmania, Plasma Warrior, Butterfly 660, Albero And The Great Blue Emblem, A Mini Falafel Adventure, Knytt Stories, Death Worm, An Untitled Story, Abuse, Chaos World DX, Mr.Blocko STE, 1213, Seiklus, Painajainen, Ahriman's Prophecy, Ark 22, RunMan, Duty And Beyond, Karoshi, Ikachan... etc. There's too many. Oh, and 'Abandoned Loneliness' is looking good, I guess. It still needs to be finished off and fixed up a bit, but I'm sure it'll be great. ^_^ Anyway, have a good month, and I'll speak to you later. (By speak, I mean reply in the form of comments, since this is the internet.) P.S - Does anyone think a sequel to 'The Power' would rock...? Yeah. toadsanime.deviantart.com

Toadsanime Update No.4 - Fooled!
May 31, 2008

I thought that this topic I'm about to explain deserved its own blog entry, so here I go. There's this really awesome new game that I discovered on this website: Clicky here! Some people are already saying that it compares to the likes of Cave Story, even though it was only released a couple of days ago. The storyline consists of zombies, pranks and evil users of certain websites zombifying their fellow users. It may sound like an odd game, but it's less than 1MB to download and takes several hours to finish the game. The gameplay and graphics are utterly superb, so I urge you to click the link and download the game. You truly won't forgive yourself for not doing so. Oh, and the game is called 'Fooled.'

TA Update No.3
May 24, 2008

Just thought it'd be suitable for me to make a new journal entry, since my last one was made some time ago. I'm aware that most people don't know who I am here yet, and that's understandable. However, I've been commenting on both old and new games here, so you might notice me if you comment on new submissions, too. For starters, I should tell you that I haven't made any games before. Ever. And I've never tried, and I probably won't try anytime soon. I want to learn how to make them at some point, due to that I have so many ideas for games, but I'd rather focus on other things right now. I'm happy just playing other people's games - that way I get a more varied form of entertainment. My last two entries didn't tell you much about myself, so I'll go ahead and expand on it now. First of all, you may of noticed my vocabulary is of average quality, something of which isn't found very often on the internet anymore. Yay for me! *ends slightly big-headed moment, realising I'm not that great* Uh... yes, anyway, I should probably mention that I'm gay, too. Just thought it deserved a mention - oh, and that I'm merely 15. *small violin solo* As for several of my favourite games, I find it appropriate to mention just the Freeware ones for now: The Power, SOUTH, Cave Story, Glace, Dink Smallwood, Voxelstein 3D, Soldexus, Stepmania, Plasma Warrior, Butterfly 660, Albero And The Great Blue Emblem, A Mini Falafel Adventure, Knytt Stories, Death Worm, An Untitled Story, Abuse... ...ugh, and loads more. I have over 1000 games on my PC that are all freeware, and are all good ones. The less decent ones don't stay on my PC, so... yeah. :P I really have nothing left to say. I'm not even techincally sure why I decided to make another pointless blog entry. Oh well. If you happen to have an account on www.deviantart.com, feel free to add me. My username is Toadsanime there, too. (toadsanime.deviantart.com has more frequent/detailed blog entries) Bye for now all, and good luck with all your projects and stuff. :D

TA Update No.2
April 26, 2008

As I don't yet construct games, I don't really have anything of importance to say. I just wanted everyone to know that I'm still here and that I'm not the usual new member that just joins, stay for a while and then leaves. I have been reviewing games here, both new and old, during my stay. On a random note, I went shopping in Cambridge with a friend today. I bought 3 manga book (Zatch Bell Vol.2, Death Note Vol.2 and Bleach Vol.1), a Jack Skellington's head plushie, a couple of badges, a pack of Zelda stuff for £1 (includes a Triforce badge, a large sticker simulating the cover art of the original Zelda game and a badge of Link) and, last but not least, a £20 figure of the awesome Axel from Kingdom Hearts II. It was a great day out, and seeing that both me and my friend was in such a great mood, we created many random phrases. Such include the fact that my brother apparentely gives birth to one baby every Tuesday, 'Poop-poo-a-doodle-doodles', Sephiroth owns a farm and... stuff. Per usual, I use my dA blog frequently, so check that if you use Deviantart (Or if you just don't mind checking my page out anyways.) toadsanime.deviantart.com Anyways, good luck to all that are currently creating games, I have high hopes for some. The latest games I've seen that interest me are 'The Power', 'GO FOR 10000' and the latest update of the astounding 'South'. I can't wait for South's final release, as I find the game strangely stunning. Anyway, I'll see you all soon, maybe.

Toadsanime Update No.1 - Hi! ^.^
March 29, 2008

Hi there! As you may or may not of noticed, I've only just joined this lovely little community here, so, greetings! ^_^ I'll probably be here for a long while yet, but I sometimes end up naturally forgetting about places once I've been away from them for a while D: However, this page is listed in my favourites, so I doubt that'll happen. Yet... O_o Anyway, this entry was really only to introduce myself and to say 'I'm here!' So far, I've really liked what I've seen here. There's been many Indie Freeware games that I've downloaded and loved of which isn't found on other Indie game sites, so I thank you all for the entertain you've shared among us so far ^_- Anyway, lastly, just in case you're a member of deviantART, my name is also 'Toadsanime' on there. My blog/journal on my userpage (toadsanime.deviantart.com) is updated much more frequently than this one shall. Thanks again and see ya' around!
