SOUTH 3.0!

SOUTH 3.0 is here! Many Updates Including: LET THERE BE LIGHT Massive overhaul to the overall lighting of SOUTH in general. OPTIONS Added an Options section that lets you adjust the Brightness and the Particle Effects. EXTRA Added an Extra section that i plan to have unused or alternate art and sprites in. Currently there is one unused sprite from Level 2 in there. LEVEL 3! I tried to go a slightly different route with the level design here, feel free to share your thoughts. I know this update has been out for a while, but i figured i would finally post a blog about it. THE LINKS FOR DOWNLOADING 3.0 ARE UNDER THE GAMES DESCRIPTION, THE 'DOWNLOAD NOW' LINK HAS 2.0. This is due to the game's size (12megs ish) and my laziness in not compressing it more. SOUTH Enjoy!

SOUTH 2.2 review!

REZ has written an early review of my WIP SOUTH, which i think turned out really well. It looks and reads really proffesionally. Anyone and Everyone should jump over to his page and have a browse through, it's worth it. Here is the Review SOUTH 3.0 should be hitting in a few more days. I have finally gotten around to devoting some time to it again, and it is really close to being ready. Music for lvl 3 will be missing as well as some other tidbits, but otherwise it is solid. Let's just say 'Let there be light!!' All together now

SOUTH 2.2! oops!

Thanks to SpectreNectar, he discovered a game crushing bug where it would not properly restart when you ran out of health, henceforth locking the game up if you 'died'. I have updated the beta since this, everyone should be dying fine now. Aside from this, i have managed to get one or 2 little tweaks in there since the last beta, *I have recolored the bats in the hopes that this makes them more visible. *Tweaked the Ducking BogMonster's Projectile so it has a higher arc. *Other art tweaks and general graphics changes. Level 3 has progressed some, but it is still a ways off. Here is a screenshot of level 2: here is a link to SOUTH's page, so you can play! SOUTH let's hear your thoughts!

SOUTH 2.1! is here!

Well i finally pieced together an acceptable update to this game, which is coming along a lot slower than i thought. The most time consuming (but funnest, to me) part is drawing all the art for it, or redrawing what i already had. By the way, i do all the art in Microsoft paint. Here's some of the many hundreds of tweaks and updates that have gone into this since the last realease: *Level 2 is ready to play! All 3 sub levels are done, and the new Boss is waiting for you at the end of it. *Stats! Upon completing a level, you will be brought to the stats screen, where your Accuracy and Use of the different weapons in the game will be displayed. Bonuses await for the best players, and hidden titles are displayed here... *Secret Areas! Each sub level now has a hidden Secret area, where you will find powerups and health. Good luck finding them. The ones you find will be displayed at the end of the current level's Stat screen. *Power Ups! the special weapons in the game (the sawblade, the axe, and the bladearang), have been tweaked a lot. some of these are controllable now, so you can guide them in mid flight toward enemies. *Dabbler art! The main character (you) has been redrawn so his art style matches with the scribble theme more. And he uses his weapons more realistcally (as in: He will use his machete in his right hand facing left or right, before it was just a mirror of one sprite). *Overall brightness adjustment for the whole game. *Overall difficulty adjustment (there were lots of spots where there was instant death falls that where hard to avoid, these have been removed). Also the enemy difficulty has been toned down some. *Many bugs with enemies and in general squashed. *Tons of frilly art added (trees, stumps, heads on sticks, mutilated bodies, etc.) There is more, but you ought to be trying it out by now instead of reading this babble. Enjoy! (by the way this game contains lots of violence and gore, and some nudity. I know some people aren't into that, and i know there is a warning on the game's page, but i will just reinforce it here)
