Final Bug-testing of "Secret" Game

Posted by Acid on June 13, 2011, 12:10 a.m.

I need your help, guys. My "secret" game is almost finished and I really would like some other people to play it, and make sure that everything is in working order.

I would like to know of any and all flaws, your opinions of the game, what you think could be improved, what you like about it, and even any ideas you have for it. I can't promise that I'll actually take your ideas into consideration, or any complaints about the difficulty, but I will at least listen and use whatever input I get from this community to better my game.

Here's a download link and a screenshot:

Yeah umm its good, but somewhat annyoing.

For example I went for the 15000 without powerups. I got 15000, but apparently i got a powerup somehow cause i didnt get the award. So i stopped playing.

Nothing too fancy though, seems more like an alpha to me.

All of the awards have worked correctly during testing. I made sure to test the 15000 one specifically before releasing this, and I retested it twice (getting above the score twice) to make sure nothing was wrong. I think you may have accidentally picked up a time bonus or mating season power up, since those are hard to notice during game play.

I'd like some expansion on the "good, but somewhat annoying" and "Nothing too fancy though, seems more like an alpha to me." Those don't really tell me much.

Thanks for playing. :D

I played it last night.

I then got tired and decided to write this the next day.

I'm not finding any "bugs" with your game, but as far as suggestions go I don't get the point of a top down mob shooter if you can't die and it's time based. Also variety would be nice.

I can understand how the repetitiveness could get a bit boring, but some variety is coming in the form of different modes you can unlock.

This game is more about just the unlockables, score, and unnecessary amount of blood. The challenge isn't based on death.

Sorry let me explain.

The awards are nice, but it was annoying because all I was doing was going for them, which got boring cause you have to wait for guys to appear and all. I think variety would help this though like Ferret say.

By nothing too fancy, I mean its black and white with blood. Kinda boring in my opinion. Gameplay is more important than graphics, but graphics give you something to look at. I mention this because you mention it was almost final. I think even if it was grayscale scenery it would be nicer than plain white.

Good idea, but too simplistic to me. ;)

That was the point. There's only three colors in the entire game - I started it based on that fact. But, yeah, I can try to bring in some variety somehow.

I also found it boring. It's well-designed - I like the blood effects, although maybe make the player and enemies white rather than transparent - but boring. There just isn't much to do. You can just stand in place and slash enemies with the sword and it won't make any difference from running around and gunning enemies.

P.S. Also, the sliding is kind of annoying, like you're running on ice.

P.P.S. Shooting/slashing enemies to pick an option in the menu is also a bit annoying. Especially since you need to press Esc to quit the achievement screen and just press C for commands anyway…

P.P.P.S. If you want to make the game achievement-based, make the achievement list a part of the main screen. This way you'll automatically need to know what you want to aim for when playing.
