Better Late Than Never

My F4D reviews… I kept forgetting to post them. :P

Deep Freeze

Overall, it had a nice touch to it. Very… professional. I'm not much of a fan of puzzle games (other than things in the vein of Tetris or Lumines), so it wasn't very fun to play. I did like the fact that some timing based puzzles were introduced before the gameplay ended. That threw me off a bit! But I didn't like the fact that there were more than a couple levels that essentially had ONE piece, ONE space, and ONE outcome.

It was a good, solid game.

Epic Christmas

Nice game here! Solid graphics, fun gameplay… I wish there was more! But I do have to say that: a. Enemies were VERY predictable. and b. You could kill some enemies before they noticed you, so that cut the difficulty by a bit.

Great presentation… just great!

Eternal Winter: The Spirit Breaker

I was really surprised by this game. Not that I expected it to be bad, but purely from the screenshots, I didn't expect to like it.

Now, I can't say it was my favorite of the bunch, but I can say that I enjoyed the graphics and, while the gameplay was pretty simplistic, I was impressed that it managed to give out a bit of a story.

Frozen Demo - #3 Pick

I want to see more from this game.

I would have to say that at this point in it's development, it's decent, but overly confusing. Not enough is explained. Also, the slowmo effect, while cool, was really confusing. :\

I mainly voted for this game because I think that it had the most potential to become a game I could seriously love to play. If this was fleshed out, it would be AWESOME.

Jared the Friendly Pumpkin - Christmas Edition

PUMPKINSWAG NIGGA

Kizuna: The Girl Who Saved Christmas - #2 Pick

It was REALLY repetitive… But I couldn't stop playing? O_O

It ran smoothly, controlled great, and looked fantastic. The time and effort REALLY was really shown in the amount of polish this game displayed. I'm glad it won! :)

Ogres & Elves - Runner Up

When I was playing this game, I thought "This is pretty repetitive…." Then I looked at the clock and it had been at least a half an hour. Honestly, If I could full screen, and the hud/interactions were revamped, this could be a pretty fun game.

Persistence

I promise I'll flesh it out, and make it better. I have some great ideas to take this, and I need to fix the collision.

Also, I literally made the sprites and AI for the animals in 10 minutes… so I didn't have much time to test and fix them.

I plan on:

- At least 4 types of animal (Deer, rabbit, wolf, bird… maybe a BEAR)

- A better title and a mini-cutscene to better explain what happened

- Actual things to do around the area (Build fires, cook food, explore a cave, etc.)

Snowball Commander

Not gonna lie, I laughed a bit. It also took a minute to get used to the controls, for some reason… I couldn't wrap my head around the timing. :P

I would have voted for this one if there weren't so many cool, totally original games.

Super Snowball Fighters

Pretty cool idea! It ended up being a BIT too easy, but overall I was impressed. Overall I got the vibe of an NES game.

Not too shabby, daggerhog!

Surrounded With White

I can't state this any better than cesque did:

Quote:
You're a… hand made of blood that creeps out of a lake and climbs mountains by bouncing off crystal balls?

Transition

Hrm. Well.. It ran. And I clicked a lot. And then it was done. It seemed like it could have been going somewhere cool though.

The Fall of Sarenta - #1 Pick… then I found out it's not even in the running :(

My favorite game out of them all. It has such fun gameplay… so much style… I think that a lot of the graphics need a LOT of work, but overall… I believe this was the best game that came out of the competition.

Note: If you didn't notice, I copypasta'd cesque's blog and then edited it.

Thanks a lot for the vote, it means a lot, actually. As I've said a billion times before, we didn't start working on the actual game until a few hours before the deadline. We only had an engine the entire time, and school was a taking me away from having time to work on it. Colseed had his own personal problems most of the time, too.

I fixed the slomo problem like two days ago, I'll release a new demo after this current comp, and release the full game sometime within the next couple of months, hopefully.
