+1 for a blog with 0 comments and pushed off the front page in a matter of a few hours! :D
I'm about halfway through playing the games for S4D now. I'll probably post a review blog tonight or tomorrow.I have a problem that I hope you guys can help me with:I'm looking to build a cheap media center soon that I'm gonna hook up to my TV and just use a wireless mouse and keyboard to play all of my content. It will also function as a server on which I'll host my site and some game servers.I'm currently looking between:ORThis combo pack:http://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboBundleDetails.aspx?ItemList=Combo.1050547With this card:http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814150560
I've always used my regular PC as our home media center and we pretty much can't live without it anymore. Look into TVersity if you're not that keen on Windows Media Center. It's a pretty awesome program.
I've never been able to get Windows Media Center to work, but TVersity has always worked perfectly for me.I would definitely recommend building it yourself than buying it pre-built.Thanks LAR, long time no see.
I would be building it either way, it's just that newegg has these bundle deals where they ship a bunch of parts together for a lower price. I can't tell which setup would be better - The intel chip w/ nvidia card and larger hdd or the amd chip w/ amd card and smaller ssd.Well, if you're going for a media center, Hard drive space is really important. Probably more important than speed unless you're going to be playing something that needs that much speed.
One thing, are you going to use your home network to stream everything? Or are you going to just connect the PC directly to the TV?At our house, we went with the former. Most of the time. (Since we have an incredibly long HDMI. lol)We use the Xbox as the thing to connect to the TV, and everything is streamed through the PC. I'll be using my computer, and they're watching movies in the living room. If I want to use my Xbox, I just connect the HDMI from the Computer in my room to the TV in the living room.I can actually do the same thing through my ps3, so that's not the thing. I basically want something that's decent enough to run most of the games and applications I run on my current pc. I have an external hard drive, so I'm not even worried about hard drive space. I basically just got the cheapest, relatively fast drives in both categories.
I mostly just stream my videos through Netflix but I download most of my music.Really I'm just hoping someone who knows hardware a little better than I do can tell me which build would make a better computer.Hey man. If you're talking about your last blog, I didn't even see it. Maybe there's just too many active blogs right now. At any rate, I played your s4d project. It was really snazzy, even though all I did was run for no reason for 10 minutes. It has potential; no danger was presented but I was scared. I was all "WHY AM I RUNNING?! DON'T MAKE THE LETTERS COME BACK, NOOO!!"
