After the compo is done, I'm deleting the Beelzebub piece of ass that I posted and reuploading a version that's actually a game. Peeps seemed to be harsh on Death for posting his opinions of the games, but I think he was just being accurate. My game was butt and lots of games seemed to be thrown together at the last minute (so I didn't want to vote and down rate them) though a few games really did stand out well! Like the other entrants probably did, I had great excuses for why my game sucked (car crash > totaled car, bills coming in from all side, getting overwhelmed with school, two jobs) but that doesn't make my game any more interesting or fun.
Some standouts:The Last Treat is probably in the running for winner, Nopy's Demo I thought was pretty cool, Sihouette was interesting, Fun in the Basement should win the Best Title Award.Good effort to everyone, either way! I'm just glad people are making games.JUNK I'M DOING OUTSIDE OF HATING MY LIFE BECAUSE OF WORK AND SCHOOL AND LOVING MY LIFE BECAUSE OF FINN:AlternareMaking very slow progress on Alternare. It's frustrating because this will be my "big break" game… but I don't have time to work on it with so much going on in my life and it's not far enough to just show screens and be impressive. BasketProgress and modularity of Basket will improve as Alternare makes progress. I decided that I WILL implement some of the suggestions and requests of a couple people who have utilized the really simplistic tool. HackYSUhttp://hackysu.com - I'm the Web Development team lead and dabbling in everything else. Currently working with other team members on getting support from MLH, securing a venue on campus, and getting as much school funding as possible (probably less than $1500). Hopefully we can get some companies to donate some time w/ 3d printers and lots of awesome stuff if we market/present it right.64DSpring Compo I claimed the spring compo and then joined HackYSU a week later so… I probably won't be able to do that. I'd love to have summer, but Cyrus claimed that, so maybe I'll do Frosty4D next year? We'll see. I'm going to try to blow 64DSC out of the water. I had high goals last time but no real experience managing anything, now that I know where I failed, I can do it WAY better.nomdeplu.meI got this domain name on a whim and I'm not sure what I want to do with it. I had an idea for a super simple social network type deal (just crowd sourcing information on anonymous/pseudonym works) but I'm not sure whether I like that idea anymore. I'll probably do something cool with it… eventually.Been feeling kind of burnt out and stressed lately. Start a conversation if you feel like it.
You should definitely try that. I don't have time to do it right now, but I THINK I want to still do it solo when I do it. I might try to grab some help on the marketing/social front, but I feel better having total control. It worked out well for me for 64DSC, but now that I have hit bumps I didn't expect to hit, and have knowledge of what to do for preparation and how to properly get sponsors (learned some of what to do and what NOT to do with OHJAM too), I'm super pumped for my next event. If I'm doing another official 64D event I'll need 7 months to prep before it starts - 1 month of planning and 6 months of execution of that planning.
