If you don't know what that is, it's a screen from OutKast's upcoming movie Idlewild, and if you want to see it in action go here and watch the one called Life's a Party. And that gave me, yet another idea. A musical platformer.I haven't refined the idea too much, but it can be either rythmical(forced movement) or free moving. You could jump on the notes(and the bars of barred 8th or smaller notes), slide on slurs, bounce on ties and take the alternate ending, or coda. The measure of difficulty would be, of course, the tempo, and i'm sure i can work in the key somewhere. That's all good 'n dandy, but it seems boring unless you're looking to brush up on music theory, eh? There has to be a story, stuch as pop stars trying to destroy the music.I'll think about it more and elaboratate a little more next time.
Interesting. One of my competition ideas (for the site), happened to be a game that utilizes sound in a unique way.
Do you ever go through with that? When making the sound effects in Czar Wars II i used single notes/cords as all the sound effects, and i had the faint idea of making the background music just bass harmonics, with different things effecting key/chord progression changes, and all the sound effects would conform the the key so that the meledy is created by the chaos. A bit like in chibi-robo but way more complicated. Mabye i'll go through with that for a sequel/prequel.
Sorry about that. I hadn't realized ther've been no contests yet, but i'm for it.
Heh, ok.
pancakes?
I've got an idea:
You input sound into the game via microphone. Everyone now thinks you're a loony because you speak in weird tones.
