Finally, I'm close to finishing up my game for TG's contest. He has already played my first version and i think he likes it. It's pretty retro anyway. Here is a screeny:

You play as TwisterGhost in a cool semi-retro race to the end of the tunnel. Watch out for falling rocks, collect power ups, and be on your way.

Comment please. [=D]

This is a small overview that I wrote on the GMC which is about FreeWebs and why NOT to use it. :)

What is FreeWebs?

Quote: FreeWebs Site
Looking for a fast and easy way to create a free website with blogs, photo albums, video, profiles, polls, chatrooms and hundreds of cool templates? We've got all that plus the most powerful and simple tools around. With Freewebs, building your website is as easy as using email. Come on in!

Let us look at this introduction and analyze exactly why Game Makers shouldn't use FreeWebs sites to advertise their games/companies.

What is wrong with FreeWebs?

They do have blogs, albums, videos, polls, and chatrooms. Let's check how this example site uses the FreeWebs functions.

Example Site

Firstly, the site has very little content and organization, but that is the creators fault. :P Secondly, the hit counter is VERY bad considering its all premade and not very customizable at all. It doesn't match the overall site.

Next, there is background music, which is a new FreeWebs addition. Good in some sites, but for most internet user with Dial-Up or weak broadband, it slows the loading process.

The navigation of this site is premade, and very little modifications are added to the navigation. This is very unappealing and unattractive. A hand made site with a good coder could use some CSS styles to modify their navigation, which would be so much better than that.

This example doesn't have this, but some FreeWebs pages give off ads, and links to FreeWebs, which aren't really bad things if you would like to support the FreeWebs projects, but otherwise, not a good idea.

The biggest fact is that you used a web creator in the first place. I mean, you should NEVER use predesigned sets and just input info. The site should be made according to the content of the site with your own graphics, not some backgrounds and images that don't even match what your site is supposed to be.

The example site is a good example, because supposedly, this is supposed to be a cheatcode site, yet none of the images correspond. Templates aren't always the best way to go. Many GM members here know that, and they will most probably hate your site for the fact that you didn't make it yourself.

What is FreeWebs going to add?

FreeWebs is becoming the next MySpace of today. I'm dead serious.

FreeWebs

Just click on that link and see. FreeWebs is planning some competition and is beginning to implement the idea of blogs exactly like MySpace. See this?

Sample Profile

If you have seen MySpace before, you can see that FreeWebs is adding similar profile systems, with the friends system, and more! If you hate MySpace like me, then that is a real problem. I hate it when kids at school say:

"Hey, what's your MySpace, dude?"

Soon enough, that will be:

"Hey, what's your FreeWebs, dude?"

>_>

What is have we learned?

- FreeWebs contains ads, and other addons which most people never need.

- FreeWebs is a premade web builder, and it proves to be better to make a site by yourself.

- They have guesbooks, bad hit counters, and background music, which can distract people in some cases if your going to make a game site.

- The templates on FreeWebs rarely correspond to what content you use on your site.

- FreeWebs is becoming a mock-up copy of MySpace.

Discuss the badness of FreeWebs here. :)

Your game isn't retro-ish enough. The NES didn't have a healthbar, making images trasperent, having some big pixel sprites then have some small pixel sprites on some stuff…

And you use Twisterghost, of course you're going to win. >:[

That guy sent me a PM on youtube that he got the username "HeroofTime" without any numbers. It shows the similarities with Myspace.
