I felt like putting up some recent news on 64Digits. These are new articles (cited) which are a little different that most.

Here you go. My first edition of 64News.

German parents post baby on eBay for 1 euro

BERLIN, GERMANY – Authorities in southern Germany have taken custody of a 7-month-old boy after his parents posted an ad on eBay offering to sell him for one euro, or about $1.60.

Police spokesman Peter Hieber says the baby was placed in the care of youth services in the southwestern Allgaeu region.

Hieber said on Saturday that the mother told police the Internet ad was only a joke. Authorities have begun an investigation into possible child trafficking against the parents.

…………… My thoughts:

Wow, this one isn't really surprising. I mean, I've heard all sorts of stuff go on eBay (like that sandwich with Jesus' picture on it); some one was bound to auction a child sooner or later. The funny thing is that no one was willing to buy the child. And a price of one euro really makes this one somewhat an oddity.

'Harry Potter' actor fatally stabbed in London

A teenage actor who will appear in the forthcoming "Harry Potter" movie was stabbed to death in a brawl outside a south London bar early Saturday, police said.

Rob Knox, 18, was caught up in a fight outside the Metro Bar in Sidcup just after midnight, London's Metropolitan Police said in a statement. The teen's death, less than two weeks after another youngster was brutally slain only a few miles away, has focused the British capital's attention on knife crime.

Knox plays Ravenclaw student Marcus Belby in "Harry Potter And The Half-Blood Prince," the sixth cinematic installment of the wildly popular Harry Potter series, set for release this fall. Warner Brothers said it was shocked by the news.

…………… My thoughts:

I am a fan of some of the Harry Potter films, mostly the earlier ones, and this did shock me as well. This kid didn't seem to have a big role, but a death is a death. The full article shows some statistics regarding stabbed-to-death rates in England, as well as a comparison to homicide rates in the US. Again, I pity Rob; nonetheless, I anticipate the arrival of the new Harry Potter movie.
