Well, to start this blog off, it's Prometheist's birthday today, but he can't get on right now. Wish him a happy birthday, if you like.
<h2>HAPPY 15th BIRTHDAY, PROMETHEIST!</h2>Yes, this is the cool one. Now, to the actual content. Despite what I said, I s'pose I'll release a little data here. I figure I might as well announce it now, so contest blogs don't get old before I make mine.If you don't know about it…<b><i>Note to all: There is a contest at YoyoGames to make a winter game by midnight of December 23, GMT time. There are no age restrictions, but games must be made in version 6 and up, registered or unregistered. You can use anything you want, so be creative. The first place winner will receive a $1000 USD prize, second will receive $500, and third will receive $250.</i></b>More competition will make it more enjoyable. Now, I know that I will most likely not win, so I'm in it for fun, to see how well I do, and to train myself in 3D some more before I finish LODM.The game is a Lixies one, since they're easy to model and somewhat easy to animate. Right now, I've got the entire idea and the model is almost finished. All I have to do is animate it. That's the hardest part in 3D. YAAAAYZ!Now, you guys will probably get after me for making a 3D game…examples…<i>"Oh, everybody at the GMC likes a game only if it's 3D and online.""You're just trying to show off."etc.</i>First of all, it's the <i>staff</i> there that's judging, not the users. Second, I'm not trying to show off. I'm trying to have a reason to practice my skills in 3D.Oh, and we've all joked about how FredFredrickson is probably going to enter, make a 3D snowball cannon game, and somehow implement online-iness. We've joked, but it probably <i>will</i> happen. XDNow, I won't share any screenshots or anything until I'm either well under-way, or I'm releasing it here. But, just so you guys in the dark know, there IS a contest going on. It's advertising GM, yes, but it's an oppurtunity to show what you're made of.Peace out,~Kilin
Just be glad I can't enter. It's totally up to cactus and nobody, and anyone else from poppenkast to destroy the competition.
I hear some people from eo are also participating as well ;)
I'm starting to look forward to this competition and the results.Oh, no…
TWO "Elite Invite-Only Sites."O.oOh noez!I can't wait to see results, though.Oh, everybody at the GMC likes a game only if it's 3D and online
You're just trying to show offetcActually I can get on right now because I know how to unblock the Internet blocker at School XD.
I might just make a simple game with no hope of winning at all =).Yes, I saw you online, knowing I was wrong.
Your current game in progress doesn't count as a winter game. Stick to it instead if you like.Invite only keeps things small, which a group needs. It also is based on connections, which a group that supports each other should already be knowing of who is in their group. So a group isn't always a picking of the best, but a picking of who can work in synchronity and develop with greater works when together
Jabberwock has a talent for being Jabberwock. That's awesome enough :P
