LIXIES

Obviously still a work in progress, with updated AI, slightly improved graphics, and a few new things. Keep in mind that I'm not interested in graphics at the moment. This is all for development purposes and I'll polish it later.

Disregard the big square in the upper right hand corner of the screen. That's being put aside for "Creature View," which shows you what the lixie is doing while you're away.

"Victim" is currently being measured by the MedLab, which only shows two chemicals at the moment. What's up with that? Each lixie has a body chemistry, and this measures the basics.

At the top of the shot, you'll see a red arrow with an eye over it. Lixies now have a "focus," and will attempt to find their way to that focus. It changes depending on their wants and needs. Since Victim's focus is over a pile of grapes, one can assume that he's hungry.

Next, you'll find that they now have visible life stages

Finally, you'll see the stats panel. Useful for basic information such as hunger and thirst, but after working and playing with them for a time, you'll actually help them improve, making them more likely to survive.

Example: Lixies with zero in swim will drown, lixies with 10 or more will swim, lixies with 50 or more will adapt to breathing underwater.

In this way, you can create new species, as these acquired characteristics are passed down to their offspring (screw normal Earthly rules).

I'm also creating a Developer's Kit, for those of you who don't want to spend hours trying to get the stats right for that perfect lixie. It's a program where you modify base stats, chemicals, etc. to inject into the Lixies world as a new species.

Want a lixie that breathes underwater and is naturally a good swimmer? One that can fight? One that can actually resist heat? There you go.

That is all.

That word: it brings back vague memories of a bygone era…

You're still working on this? Wow.

"Working on" is such a nasty phrase. I prefer resurrected.

At least you used pngs.

Nothing wrong with revisting an old project.
