Band: Alestorm
Time: Fairly recent (two years, maybe?)Genre: Pirate Metal (wtf?)I was introduced to this band by one of my friends when he was talking about odd types of music. He brought up "Pirate Metal." Of course, the word going through my mind was "wtf," and he showed me. I thought it sounded pretty cool so I started taking a look at some of the other stuff they did.Anyway, the first song I heard is still my favorite. It even has a music video (probably the only song of theirs I saw that did).Anyone know what keelhauling is? Learned it earlier yesterday, since my curiosity got the better of me. It's some sailor's punishment where some guy is tied and thrown overboard, where the rope is looped around the other side of the ship. He's pulled around and under the keel (kind of like a bottom fin), and back up to the other side. The reason the video's got blood in it is because the keel usually has barnacles or growth on it, and it cuts people up pretty badly. The other thing that can happen is the person can drown. Obviously. There's your word of the day. Keelhaul. Anyone else heard of this? If so, like/hate? I think their lyrics are a bit weird, but the instrument combinations sound pretty sexy.Well that was an odd blog for me to make, but I figured I haven't blogged in ages.Next blog: stealing Glen's idea and possibly releasing a demo of my 10+ WIPs (that are ready anyway).
PIRATE METAL FTW!!! That shit is so crazy that it's awesome.
Sounds pretty cool.
Epic song. In my opinion you can't go wrong with happy violin sounds mixed with metal.
And for you next blog don't give us 10 things to download at once, it will overwhelm people and make them not want to download them, instead do a few a week.Haha my friend showed me this. I think its pretty hilarious.
thats funny. downloading its hilarity to my interactive portable device to play in front of my friends.
