Next Week is WIP Week

So I've got support from one person about putting some time into several WIPs to release normally on 64Digits to defibrillate the queue. This will, I hope, cause a CHAIN REACTION, which will have users think, "Hey, if he can put up an incomplete game like this, why can't I?"

The point is, everyone seems to be trying to be releasing small completed games, but we DO allow WIP submissions as well, so why not? It's there in the rules that if the game undergoes a lot of changes between versions (seriously, make it almost unrecognizable), then you can delete your old one and resubmit it.

This used to be a bustling utopia, so let's get a bit of activity going, both in pushing old entries off of the front page (blogging), and in giving users something that they signed up for (games).

So hey, why not entertain you while I'm sparking the queue? I'm going to post a list of WIPs along with a short description, and I'm going to choose four of them to work on and release, based on your votes. They are arranged into most recent work at the top, dead projects (which I can revive) at the bottom. So, without further ado, the list.

Lixies Adventures

A typical platform game where you play as a lixie, trying to save his homeland from invasion. Through the adventure, you clear levels, rescue lixies, fight bosses, gain powerups, attempt bonus stages, etc. If anyone remembers the WIP posted here years ago, this is a completely different game.

Terminys

A real-time RPG, where you play as Aidan, who is a part of an average family in a peaceful town. When a ghostly being teaches him how to use Ether, he blames himself when his town is attacked. For those who playtested it for me, you played the prologue. The game really begins five years later, when he grows up.

The game features full-on RPG elements, including level (though hopefully less grinding associated), boss fights, party members, items and equipment, and so on.

Legend of the Dark Moon

The roots of Terminys's RPG play style began here, in a free-roam do-what-you-want open RPG. You play as Zack, a traveling trader who was robbed, left for dead, and rescued by someone from a nearby town. Before he is allowed to leave, he is told to learn a little combat in case he wants to travel again, but his trainers have something different in mind.

Features include a full-on real-time RPG system, an in-game clock (used to be real-time), weather (which affects some of your activities), minigames (when you die, you have to pay a fee of special coins that you earn in an easy but interesting way), boss fights, and the Deity Campaign, where you choose to swear allegiance to one of four gods. Doing this will completely change the direction of gameplay.

Project Falconwing

A space shoot-em-up with a few twists (such as health). Follow a typical storyline if you want, or just get in there and kill enemies. While the game is essentially finished, I can add a couple more levels to add the real arcade element to it.

Game features are, powerups, health, a complex score table, online highscores, boss fights, difficulty/handicap, and so on.

Lixim

Standing for "Lixies Sim," this is where the lixies originated. Instead of controlling them, you take care of them through an avatar I like to call the "cursor," which is, indeed, your mouse. Though the game has a story, you'll be paying less attention to it unless you're looking for it. Lead your lixies around the world avoiding danger, have them start populating the world. This is an open-ended game and can be played essentially forever, but the time it takes to explore the full story is pretty long if that's your interest.

The game features fairly complex AI concerning the lixies, a massive world to explore, literally everything can be poked, prodded, or otherwise interacted with, a day/night system with weather, etc.

Lixies Arena

The multiplayer version of Lixies, this is basically a dead project because of my lack of knowledge of 39DLL. Before I dropped it, I had basic multiplayer working, including partial online battles.

The game currently features a few items and a lixie color changer, but will probably allow you to play as different creatures altogether.

Code Omega

A 3D space shooter. This was a very early project and one of my attempts at 3D. It follows a basic story, but is far from ready for WIP status. It even supported some multiplayer, but I dropped this to work on Lixies Arena's multiplayer instead.

Lixies Survival

This started out as a contest entry for something we had years ago. Basically, play as a lixie in 3D. Instead of the basic platform game that you might be familiar with, this one is a fusion of Lixies Adventures and Lixim. Your lixie has needs, like hunger and energy, and will die if you neglect them. Once you learn how to keep his levels up, you can look for a way to get the poor creature off of the island he was trapped on, and maybe learn a little about why he's there.

Fin

That's everything, I believe. Remember, the order is from most recent to nearly dead. I still have the game files on hand, so I could pick up whatever was most popular. However, I'll go ahead and sway your vote a bit. If you pick the games lower on the list, they probably won't be released this week.

If I release one at a time, however, I think I can manage releasing the ones further in development first and the ones later, well, later. Or I could take a month and release them all at once. I've got nothing better to do anyway.

Or, if you have a completely new request, you can shove it up your ass tell me and I'll see what I can do. Anything to make this place more active.
