Ohhh, Bullet Hell!

School's started up again, which means that now I have an excuse to be lazy on my games. As usual, I switch off a lot, but this time I was able to stick to one genre at least.

Here's something:

IN MULTIPLAYER!

Still working with the HUD (and contemplating character sprites of course), but everything seems to be coming along nicely, and I'm only waiting for AG to finish his API so I can port with less trouble.

Also….

I know, graphics (and sound effects) suck for now. If you'd like to fix that, let me know.

I've taken the Path of the Boss with this one, meaning that it'll have no stages (except for the extra extra stage), and will mostly be composed of bosses. That means I can make them longer, and with an active shield, I can also make patterns more dense.

Other than that, I'd like to say I'm equalizing music pretty well. Don't have any finished tracks since I last posted, but I'm redoing some old tracks, and boy do they sound better already.

Oh, and I'm also starting The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya. It's hilarious so far, and fucking confusing. I was recommended by Xemic, along with my brother and his girlfriend. And Xemic likes to make things more confusing by saying there are several ways to order the episodes. Ohhh man.

Last, I started writing a new story that falls under the theme, "supernatural elements in a modern world," because I like that shit. It's going great so far.

It looks really cool.

But, you know, as with most bullet hell screenshots, I can't tell what's going on in great detail :D

looks pretty cool, but I agree with TC hah.

Hah, yeah, I know. Looking at getting a video (for the second pic) out soon, provided that I first:

- Finish the boss's track

- Finish some character portraits

- Get some real sound effects (accepting recommendations =< )

- Finish a few more necessities

As for the first, well. It'd be a connections test at most. Not a whole lot to actually display, just a bunch of multiplayer shit.

What, precisely, is planned to be multiplayer about this?

Someone hasn't been following my blogs at all.

The first screenshot is of the multiplayer game. Players are arranged into teams. In the most basic game mode, they try to gain enough points for their spells to unleash them early, and the opposing team has to outlast it while attempting to kill the casting player.

In the mode I'm currently focusing on (Boss Battle/whatever), seven players fight one superpowered player, who has access to powerful spells, abilities, controlling his own bullets, and stage obstacles. The enemy team has to kill him before their life pool is depleted.

That's the basic idea, anyway. There are other modes with other concepts, but the idea of the game is to have a PvP bullet hell based on dodging skill, for the most part.

I should probably point out (again) that the two screenshots are from different games. They do, however, use similar HUD setups since they both play off of the same concept and in the same universe.

On that note, here's a question for anyone who's interested in the multiplayer. There are several spell categories (a few of what I have now include magic, nuclear, illusion, phantom, and nature). Would it be more interesting if I put all those attributes into characters instead?
