The Host Posts an F4D Devlog?

I hated the idea of not having finished S4D, so I'm entering F4D. Unofficially, of course, which means I won't be judged, but I will (hopefully) have a submission ready by the time judging begins.

The game needs a lot of work and in the remaining week and a half, it'll take a lot of devotion. But I still don't have internet at home, so here's hoping it works out. After all, I've spent hours doing that damned 8-frame running animation, and it turned out alright. Hate for that to be a waste of time. And yes, the character portrait will most likely be redone. It was essentially a test of working on a small scale, which I'd rather not do anymore.

The game is called The Fall of Sarenta, an addition to the story of Terminys in an effort to tell a little more about the history of the sylph race. The game retells the story of one of the most devastating events through the eyes of the sword-armed sylph Wanderer, Nurei, as he combats the new predators that appeared during this bitter winter.

The game operates as a platform shooter, essentially an improved version of something that was presented in my 64Dare entry, Phantasmal Reverie. But rather than being limited to shooting in two directions, it works much like a TDS.

Gameplay mechanics to note are the use of Nurei's blood in combat. Blood is used to attack and drains as he projects needles made of it. While not taking damage, Blood recharges faster, but it cannot exceed his current health.

I'm hoping to give a more interesting, less clunky entry to the bullet hell platform shooter, so here's hoping I finish this on time.

As to the rest of you, good luck in your entries.

YOU SAID THERE WOULD BE WINTER

WHERE IS THE SNOW?

It's hard to actually capture what's happening in a screenshot, as always in my case. But yeah, there's a bit of a reason for floating boss weapons. Also, I'm not sure how much of Terminys you've seen besides the demo on that prologue, but there's a lot more to the world than the little bit I've made public. Since the game revolves around the sylph race, I thought a little backstory might be fun.

And Rob, there are fucking snowflakes. Also, winter progresses as the game does. But since I'm running out of time, I may need to cut some things. =|
