More Con Adventures

I got suckered into this one, didn't really feel well enough to go, and none of the panels were any good. Usually I do an annual anime con that runs in October, but there was one coming in March, so I thought why not?

Well I'll keep it short since it's not a huge deal. Basically, much less fun than before. So why am I bringing it up? Why, brony tribute, of course.

For those of you who remember the last blog, remember how the theme(s) were Ouran, Black Butler, Haruhi, etc. Well. This year's theme was MLP, apparently.

My brother's girlfriend went as Rainbow Dash, and, well, got taken away from us every five minutes.

There were plenty of people cosplayed as ponies (mostly girls, obviously, a couple guys). One guy wore a Star Trek suit along with some dragongoat mask. Apparently it was because that voice actor was shared with Star Trek. Clever, I guess. And then there was a brony panel. No, I didn't go to that, but my brother's girlfriend did.

Then there was AMV (anime music video), a contest where people make products by the same name. Such a thing wasn't exclusive to this con. Anyway, some good entries, but of course, a MLP entry, which, first off, isn't anime, and second, wasn't a music video. Rather, it was just a bunch of phrases being put into context, and it was actually kind of funny.

$5 that's going to win, I guess. But what I'm actually trying to say is:

AMERICA? IN MY JAPAN?

Anyway, nothing against bronies here. You like what you like. The only pony material that pisses me off is when bronies get all defensive like they're being racially discriminated. Come on guys.

Also, I operated on two hours of sleep because of the commute. Only makes me look forward to the one in October, I guess.

And to those of you who object to this blog in general (GHG), just don't comment. Everyone has the right to be a nerd once in a while. No, I didn't dress up.

Oh, and I'm going to try the novel in 30 days again, come April, so I'll be less active around here. Right now I'm aiming for supernatural themes in an urban setting. But it's feeling too much like fucking X-Men right now, so I'm taking a break from conceptualizing. Maybe I'd do better with a bit of fantasy in there, since I hate urban settings (trying something new anyway).

You should've dressed up as Flandre.

I'm making my brother's girlfriend do that.

I really hate MLP fans right now.

Why?

Because every conversation with someone about it - makes talking to and infant or a cat more exiting.

Edit:

…I want to talk to this guy, he seems to get it.
