As the first post in my blog I've decided to talk about my current project. It's called 'GML Guide' and what it does is convert the Drag & Drop actions in Game Maker to code but instead of just giving you the code it also will explain the code and how best to use it. [:)]
It will be made in Game Maker 7.0 so will be fully vista compatible and will also have a Windows API. I'm willing to ad more feature so recommended some my leaving me a comment of via PM.-I'm also working on an example to 'try' and recreate the basic Grand Theft Auto 1 engine. So far i got the basics down. -Player Movement--Enter/Exit Cars--3D Buildings--9 Weapons--Gang AI & Cops AI-Strange what i call a basic engine [:P]-Now about me [;)](feel free to close the page right about now.)I've been using Game Maker since 2004. Around late 2006 I left and started programming in C++ and ASM. Now I've returned to Game Maker because of the simplicity and ease of use. On my return I've seen hundreds of complaints towards Mark and his decision to partner with YoYo Games. Which brings me to my next point.-I think the partner with YoYo games is the best thing to happen to Game Maker in some time. All you seem to see on the GMC is children complaining, failing to follow rules, and just annoying every member alive. Maybe the new forum will have a tighter stamp on rules but more open to a lot of other things. I.E Team Requests, Not almost every topic in The Community section locked, etc… I also hope for a higher quality of games being made. Recently the quality has decreased by a huge amount and you only really get a good game pop-up to then get pushed back down due to The Children of the forum bumping there own crappy games. I guess that's the price you pay for simplicity.-Compiler-
