DSG - Update on Artifact + DOWNLOAD

[EDIT:]

DOWNLOAD A TEST DRIVE OF THE PHYSICS HERE

http://64digits.com/users/DarkSirrusGames/Artifact_-_The_Castle_of_Wind_ALPHA_BETAv1.0_TEST_DRIVE_EXE.zip

CONTROLS:

Up=Fly Up

LEFT/RIGHT=Spin

Play with the aerodynamics and get a feel for it.

That is a picture of the engine… and you would not BELIEVE the physics… your angle determines the wind resistance and max speed… it all moves smoothly and factors all fade in and fade out instead of click on and click off

I've used sin() a whole lot in the aerodynamics physics and the vapor trails are really good looking. I'm really satisfied

Now, I need to make the platform engine.

what to expect:

-10 to 20 unique levels

-original content

-secret levels

what I might add:

-multi-player

What this game will be like:

You set sail to find the legendary Zaratan, a mythological creature also referred to as the Devil Whale. However, on your voyage your ship begins to be engulfed by a whirlpool and you're sucked in. You later wake up on the Zaratan at the edge of a great city.

You explore the city and encounter THE ORACLE, a woman who grants you certain powers such as the ability to enter the levels and read the ancient language of the city.

You travel the castle and find the portals to the levels. Once inside a level, you surf the wind, bypass obstacles, and speed through enemies while collecting keys to the door of the safe to collect the artifact. The game will be both a side-scroller of sorts and a platformer depending on if you are in a level or in the castle

That's all I got so far.

If you have ideas, talk to me.

It just looks like a graphics update to Sketched. Anyways, keep on working on it.

Sweet, physics!

Multiplayer would be nice. It is pretty smooth and realistic, but I'm confused about something: Are you still going to use the wind currents?

DSG 17 years, 8 months ago

what do you mean? like the line in sketched? probably not, but wind will be a factor, like it can through you off at random or such.

*throw

That doesn't have very good physics.

Fail

DSG 17 years, 8 months ago

no, i think you just dont know how to control them

Wind should effect the angle.

DSG 17 years, 8 months ago

I was actually working on that now

Looks good, downloading now.
