Since I've had all these new 3D effects, they're opening up entirely new possibilities for map and room design. As you have seen in the last video in my last blog, one "room" can be a combination of rooms creating a real 3D feel as now I can make rooms that, while 2D, appear as though you can walk around one "room" in different dimensions, using multiple rooms and some fake 3D. Just like the "room" of the tree area and the two perpendicular walkways, I can design other "rooms" that allow for walking around corners and this can be very versitile. I have 3D walls, I made this really cool circular walkway that looks 3D that you can run around either the way that passes closer to the camera or the way further from the camera (I'll have screens of that later).
As you can see, map design can finally be designed 3 dimensionally. It's pretty fun.I personally havn't seen 2D taken in this kind of direction, so there isn't much out there to learn from so I've only had 3D game design to look at but I would love any suggestions about any of this. Thanks guys.
*Opens mouth to suggest camera zooming*
"…"*shuts mouth*You want ideas? Here's one.
Just get the damn game done. THEN you can do what you do best and spice it up.Kilin is right, and I thought the same thing as Hel did.
i disagree. take as much damn time as you want. just don't focus all your efforts on graphics and give up once you start coding boss AI and stuff. then we'll have to kill you. otherwise, the longer you take on this, the more polished the game play is, and the lengthier the journey, the better.
@JuurianChi: hahaha I was thinking that too! like zooming in on a sign or something
@sirXemic: How would you fix it?? There's gotta be a way.@Avatrol: Oh, it definatelyt won't be released too early. If I knew how to fix it I would have said so. I don't, though. But now you introduced this 3d thing I was thinking that if the game was real 3d but only consisting of cardboards, it would create a unique style and you wouldn't lose the current looks. It would only enhance 3d transitions. However, my suggestion is difficult to implement at this moment, so feel free to ignore this comment.
