I don't know if anybody knows this, but I create Star Wars models in Sketchup - a Google 3D modelling program. I've made quite a few, from the Imperial-I to the Venator to the A-Wing to the Interceptor. Not all are featured on my page, but I would definitely reccommend checking out the Venator.
Now, I know all my models aren't 100% accurate, but they're pretty close, and I've made a habit of modelling them all completely to scale according to Wookieepedia, meaning that all my models, when placed next to each other, are to scale as they are in the Star Wars universe. You can see my models here: http://sketchup.google.com/3dwarehouse/search?q=Darthvender&styp=m&btnG=SearchCurrently, my pet project is the Gladiator-Class Star Destroyer. It is 500 meters long and is not very well known. It appears rarely in the Expanded Universe and there are a scant few pictures of it.I am currently working from this reference picture:http://images4.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20080322222233/starwars/images/0/01/The_Demolisher_SOTG.jpgand making the model as accurate as possible. The following are a few pics of the current model:http://img140.imageshack.us/img140/9491/64d01.pnghttp://img24.imageshack.us/img24/4529/64d02.pnghttp://img191.imageshack.us/img191/2685/64d03.pnghttp://img514.imageshack.us/img514/1356/64d04.pngAs you can see from the 4th pic, every single plate is raised from the surface of the hull, giving it that nice shading effect seen in the 1st pic. The model currently holds 12,410 edges and 5,148 polygons. I've been working on it for the past three or four days after school, and I'm pretty proud of it so far.-Darthvender
Nice, sketchup is a pretty handy tool. Although I've used it more for 2d art then 3d if you stack the two against each other.
Could use some ambient occlusion. Does Sketchup even do ambient occlusion? 'Tshould.
So far so awesome.
No, Sketchup doesn't do ambient occlusion, but it sure would be nice…
