Imperial II-Class Star Destroyer Renders

Well sir, since summer started I've been working on a VERY highly detailed model of an Imperial II-Class Star Destroyer in Google Sketchup. I mean VERY, VERY detailed. She's at a 1:1 ratio, meaning she's almost exactly 1600 meters long.

I've been going into intense detail along the hull, studying from several reference pictures from around the interwebs.

Now, a while ago I was working on a model and someone on here asked if Sketchup had ambient occlusion. The answer was no. However, I recently discovered Kerkythea, which is a renderer that can access and render models from Sketchup. Needless to say I've churned out several dozen renders of the model as it currently is in order to get familiar with the tool, and the following pictures are some of the prettier results…

Now, they're not professional level or anything, but they show just how much I've been throwing into this project (No, it is not textured besides all being coloured a light gray).

Now, some of you may have noticed that it's in half. Well, after an additional gig of RAM and a new video card, simply opening this model takes about a minute or two, and working on it produces a framerate around 10 FPS. I'm quite poor right now so I can't really afford a better computer/a tech upgrade.

Anyway, it's been about a month since I started, and I estimate another month or so before completion. So, that's all, folks!

Wow, thanks for the support!

I've been using several references, one of which was not entirely accurate, but only in one place. The following are some sites with the reference pictures I've been working from.

And there's 20,058 polygons at the moment. At first I was trying to keep it low by cleaning up unnecessary lines, but now it would take much too long to do, so I don't.

Kudos to the people who originally designed it as well.

I actually have never officially made a model that was not Star Wars. Besides, that thing is ginormous and has no high-detail reference pics. And I don't do guesswork.

Oh yes, and it's at over 100k polys now.

Just FYI.
