Pineapples

So I hear Kaz has a pineapple fetish :O You'll have to ask him for specifics.

So….

I've been doing some pixeling, and I decided to make a game mockup of a more modern (graphically), old-zelda-styled action-adventure.

All sprites are original by me, done from memory and a few references, but I think that the key sprite and the character sprite look too much like direct copies (even though I made them myself), but its hard to make a good character that small, and keys usually all look the same anyways. Sort of a mix between Link to the Past, and Link's Awakening.

Anyways, dubious question here - in the case that I actually make a game out of this, should I make it a direct fangame (character's name is link, has to save zelda or the triforce, etc) or make it a heavily zelda-styled dungeon game with original stuff, with lots of zelda references?

Cause I as you can see the character isn't quite Link, but he does have the hat. I can give him a moustache :O

Having it an original dungeon game allows me to tweak the gameplay a bit, add in interesting new weapons, and mess around with new things, but I'm afraid of screaming people - "THIS IS JUST A ZELDA CLONE" etc…

PS - person who tells me how to get the chest open is a winnar! I've provided all necessary clues, and even started you on your way. First person with a picture solution gets a cookie!

Also, moooooar people need to join cybernations ftw!

Ingenious!

Who could tell the difference?

That makes no sense at all.

It makes perfect sense. As a gnome, he can walk through walls, allowing him to go right up to the chest, no problem.

Don't make his name Link, just make it a game with lots of zelda references (like you said)

Make his name Chain

Since when could PHP store cookies with unlimited expiration?

Anyway are you going to make that into a real game?

Shows how smart you are, Firefly - the variable's name is $infinity, but that has no connection to its value whatsoever.

Yeah but now $infinity is undeclared.

Leading to horrible errors and cookie corruption

You can't, but you can set them to expire many many many years into the future - so virtually 'infinity' for most practical uses.
