RPG(Ridiculous (yet) Playable Game)

Yeah! I designed a map for my RPG. Currently That's the majority of my efforts. As you have probably noticed, I'm trying to make this quite ridiculous.

I have made a few drawings of the characters, and if you look closely you can see the faint outline of one of the drawing I made somewhere in the bottom right. I haven't made a drawing of the main character yet, or of any other characters, so that one in the corner will have to suffice. For some reason it faintly reminds me of super meat boy.

What I'm planning in this game is to have a Paper Mario style view. I also want to keep the inventory simple and small. Small because it makes you choose what you really need. I will have a bank though, which can house lots of your crap. The inventory and armor slots will be different though. Who ever heard of someone wearing clothes while it's in their backpack?

For the experience system, you will get experience points in the type of weapon you are using. For example, if you had a sword equipped, and then went out and bonked a bunch of innocent little creatures on the head, experience in the sword weapon class would go up. When you level up, you would then choose one of a few stats to upgrade, such as:

-Agility: How fast you attack

-Attack: How much damage you are likely to deal to an enemy

-Defense: How much damage you are likely to block

So the more you use a type of weapon, the more awesome you are at wielding them.

Storywise, I want to make this Free Roam. I personally like those types of games as they let me do the stupid stuff I like to do, like killing off people who I hate. So far I'm thinking about putting in two very different beginnings based entirely one which direction you decide to go after waking up and going outside. I need to decide what those things are first… Maybe on one you focus on attack and on the other you focus on defense? I don't know. More planning to do!

Alright, I bet this is really screwy sounding now, but I don't feel like reading through and fixing and stupid things I might have said. If I said something stupid, please point it out and laugh at it.

Hey, it's concept art. And story. I haven't done any code at all. This has all been done off of computer.

Fuck, another gray area. So you're allowed to do concept art and other planning, but are you allowed to do level design?

Perhaps place a few trees on 20th (but we're in the city so that doesn't make sense)

This is the world map, and not really a level. If you think about it, this doesn't affect gameplay except for how the levels are organised. I won't start designing the individual levels until the start date. :)
