64 Collab+CSS2+MAIS {Dr. E}

64 Collab:

Well, it was brought up here that it might be nice to do a 64D collab of sorts… I was wondering if I could (hypothetically) start one. Here's what would need to be done, in my opinion, to begin working on one…

-Genre would need to be decided.

-Members would need to volunteer to work on the project.

-Tasks would need to be assigned, so we don't have 10 people working on the same thing at once.

-We might want to create a timeframe for the game's development

-…and then we get into mroe detailed stuff that we don't need to worry about until we actually (hypothetically) start working on the collab.

CSS2:

One of my favorite scripting (though it isn't really scription…) languages… I only just started to get into non-visual aspects of it… and I'm ticked at Microsoft for not including support for aural functions in IE7… Still, I'm beginning to put together a danged nice stylesheet.

MAIS:

I've worked with MAIS a bit since I submitted it… I've disabled drawing of effects outside of the view… added a few more levels, and started to clean up the engine a bit. As soon as it is accepted (Queue #51 now), I'll try to remember to update it.

And, of course, nobody comments on my WIP whn I submit it on the GMC. Of course, they respond to everyone who sayas "My first Game" or something of the sort. If you're feeling nice, here's the link: GMC Topic.

And yeah, that's pretty much it.

/Major Edit

64 Arcade

Ok, there's been some discussion of having a 64D collab. I'll kick this one off: I'm going to start a 64 Arcade project. Here's the goals for the final project:

-Preferably 64 Mini-games

-Online Score system for all games?

-Requirements for Mini-Game-

-Must be aesthetically pleasing

-Must be bug free (or nearly bug free, no fatal errors)

-Must have accurate score system

-Must have somewhat original elements

-Must be approved by majority of team*

-Can be 2D or 3D, preferably doesn't have more than one room, though multiple rooms would be acceptable if they both feel 'fresh' when played in sequence.

-Info on Joining Collab-

Can submit as many games as you want, though they have to be original.

You will get full credit for any game you make.

-Disclaimer-

By joining the collab, you agree that:

You will not insert any inappropriate** eastereggs in your games, the discovery of these will result in possible booting from the team.

The rights to all submitted content becomes the rights of not only you, but the team.

You will not rip anyone else's code/resources without their permission.

-Notes on Game Design for Collab-

You should add some sort of special identifier to the front of all resources in your game, to make merging an easier task (ex. dre_ob_player, arc_sp_enemy etc.)

You are encouraged to limit the size of your resources. Don't use a 3 mb MP3 in your game, we can't afford to have 64 4 MB games merged into one. It's not practical for us.

-Final Notes-

This is just a basic overview of my vision that I've thrown together in about 10 minutes. I'll get more in depth in time.

*Team: Everyone who signs up to create a game. **Pornographic, etc.

A collaboration sounds fun to me, but I think 64 minigames is unrealistic. Why not create *one* game? It doesn't have to be an MMORPG or anything major, just a little side project that everyone can join in on. It might be beneficial to designate a certain group of people for graphics, another for sounds, etc. so that things stay consistent.

Either way, I'd be happy to contribute.

@Firebird: Too bad it isn't supported much yet…

@Polystyrene Man: I think we'll try it as a mini-games collection for now, as it'll be a somewhat easier project to develop (since much of it is individual, though we can share resources between games)… after this, we can try for something more complex.

Also, I'll be out of town this weekend… so it's up to Blueboy to manage things for a bit.

Here's a Question.

If a collab is posted, will all the authors be listed?

I might help, ive got an unfinished tank engine that i will proably never use, it has some sweet effects.

If you want i could send it to you, all it basically needs is some enemys with some decent ai and it would be awesome.

Or if someone else wants to do the ai for it thats cool. Just pm me.
