Review of possibly the best racer ever

So. Finally. I played Burnout Revenge for 150 hours. I own the game for a year now. It was time, for a review.

Note: This is about the Xbox version, NOT THE 360!

First impression

You start off going through a few intro movies (if you played Burnout 3 you would skip them out of excitement)

You are asked to make a new account. That goes very smooth and easy , plus it works well.

After working through the cleverly designed menus, you pick a game mode and track (at the same time, it's hard to describe) and you then pick a car. There are 72 of them, and about 65 are hawt sports cars.

The next thing you see is a quick video about how everything works (Faster than a tutorial, and far easier).

Gameplay

(I advice you to watch some videos of the game to get a better idea of this)

Gameplay is easy. The cars have no transmission, corner nicely, and if you want to corner tight, you can drift (or powerslide as it's usually called in other games).

Most cars (in races) go about 300km/h, but the first 2 you get by default go 250. The game uses a smart "Boost" system; the more tricks like sliding, pushing cars and stuff, the more boost you get and the more easily you can go to your top speed. You get in it very easy, and you won't get out very soon. Mainly because you keep getting new tracks (There are hundreds of tracks and variations, and about 8 locations) and the opponents are always at the same skill as you are.

There are takedowns, which means that you bash your opponent to crash, revenge takedowns, which mean that after they takedowned you you takedown the back, and there are bodychecks, what means that you push innocent cars away.

There is also something called crashbreaker, which means that after you crash you can explode to take down enemies.

You can see all modes and stuff in various video's on YouTube.

Graphics

Amazing. They are about Half-Life 2's quality, but with much more detail. You can see a big mountain from miles away and slowly come closer and eventually drive through / around it.

Music

From a lot of popular bands, mostly rock and some electronica. No rap or something.

There are about 60 songs, some good, some not.

Sound effects

Nothing special, but sure not bad either.

Conclusion

Buy it. You will get addicted soon.

I've never played that version, but I've played Burnout Legends for the PSP, and it's awesome.
