If your browser currently supports APNG, you should have already noticed my animated banner and icon. If not please update to the latest version of Mozilla Firefox or another browser that supports APNGs.
APNGs are basically a collection of PNGs put together to make an animated file which are so much better than gifs because of this one thing:Alpha transparency.in action:APNGCrappy GIFHow it should look if you have Firefox 3 or Opera In order to make APNG you will need to make the frames in PNG format, and then export them together using JapngEditor or another APNG editor.Hopefully those crappy gif files fade away soon. XP.
APNG isnt supported by the people who made PNG, thats why its not widely supported enough to replace gif. The MNG is the proper animated png format.
mhmm, well its becoming more and more popular as its already on some major browsers and some development software. I am just aiding in the process.
It's a nicer format, but until, say, IE supports them, using them for anything you want people to see isn't smart.
But ppl who use IE don't deserve to see the internet, PY.
IE8 is not a bad browser. It's not great, but it's far from unusable. It even makes half-hearted attempts to fix it's own shitty rendering.
That's pretty cool. Hopefully everyone else decides to support it, I don't see why not.
nice animation
gifs are more awesome. they only have 256 colors each, and it takes REAL skill to make nice and colorful images… also, it compresses better and you don't have 1MB banners… think of people who have slow modem on a 133Mhz pentium computer…
@Myth those people don't deserve to see the internet either
