8990 accounts, fook yeah
Eh, basicly, whenever I get around to planning and creating anything lately, I've always written up a sorta stream of thought plan on what to include in it, features and functionality sorta thing. Seeing as I did it all on paper I get to type it up now, yay.In case you didn't know, this is a plan to make a replacement site for 64Digits, because v3 is never coming and 64D is dyingWhat is the cancer that is killing 64D?<<Phoenix / 128 DigitsAwarded content badges, same as the ones currently available on 64D, only in higher detail graphics (like 64x64, and on a separate page instead of being in a panel under the avatar). bronze, silver and gold for higher rankings of stars (so theres a for example, views badge, the badge looks the same, but it has stars for each stage of achievement). Custom user badges will be displayed underneath a persons avatar instead, each person can make one and then trade/share with other people. They will be lower resolution, probably around 16x16.Complete blog creation, including previewing before submitting, comments, lots of style editing tags (strike through, marquee, and floating dividers)To browse through a users blogs, it will show the title of the blog, and then a small preview of whats in it (like, the first 25 words).Weighted voting, experiences users have more power in a games/examples score.Elite users (idea taken from Phoenix), users who have donated, or done something really freakn elite, thus earning them a nice title. Some notes on that, it may split the community, not a very all in one style then and the nice title isn't too heavy of an incentive to donate. (or is it, idk)Games on front page won't only be the latest ones, viewers can flip through category via JavaScript, newest games, all time best (by vote score), best this week, latest staff picks, random games, random examples.I plan to keep the games and examples/engines/dll's in two very differently styled areas. Not to divide up the popularity of either two, but to let people know that a game and an engine should be approached in two very different ways for rating. Any engine will have more [okay, I did write something on the paper here, but I can't actually read what I wrote]Games will have styles to vote on, sound, graphics, quality (as in, bug free), playability (I'd play it again, this term might be better swapped with quality) and Overall (how each section came together, use of graphics and sound, etc)There could also be a quick vote, which fills in each section with the same number and then submits (though seeing as we we have the 5 sections already, why not force people to use them? and it's more liable to abuse anyway)Now the whole idea of weighted voting, each day for voting or commenting on something at least fives times (as in, five separate things), your weighted vote increases by 0.10 (you start at 1.0). Abusers of voting could have there weight lowered or completely taken away.Yah, it's newgrounds like, sue me.All the basic things current on 64D should be included, file uploading, front page news and blogs, polls, etc. A forum will probably be included as a custom made one, using the Noxequa forums as a template.I'd really like to open up the site to more then just GM users, allowing C/C++ games on the system as well (yes, I'm still pissed that my C++ game didn't get on 64D), flash games could also be a possible idea but it might be hard considering the already vast flash-based websites (oh shit newgrounds)Thats all I can really think of for now, I don't know what the purposed plans are for v3 so I can't talk about them yet, and I've got a headache right now.So, talk about what parts of my plan you like, as well as anything else you have to contribute.Somehow I get the idea there will be a CVS for teams
I've been getting pissed off lately thinking that my blogs aren't as long compared to other peoples.
Then I realised my header image stretches the page….Firstly, nice ideas; secondly, what are you talking about?
idk
The only reason it 64Digits seems like it dying is because we get three new games fronted every two weeks and when the queue gets big they put them all up and some games get pushed off the front.
Not just that, I'm talking about the blogs, my last blog just got booted off the front page, and that was partially due to a spamming of bel-air.
you've hacked oveer niiiiiiine thooooooooousaaaaand acounts now
64 isn't dying, it's just going through a slow time.
Seriously, looking at the actual traffic figures, the last time this site was as inactive as it is now was in, like, january. So… we need to get more people blogging.(Of course, I also stand behind 128 phenoixes.)
