Nebraska Newton Devlog #7 - "Story"
Today I'll be discussing what little story Nebraska Newton has. YYG said not to make epics, so this game's story is going to consist mainly of humour.
Prologue
There really isn't going to be much story here. But there will be some other funny stuff. Helpful stuff too.
Chapter 1 - "Speech"
The story will be told by speech bubbles appearing above Nebraska's head. These will have multiple purposes: to tell the story, to help the player, and to show Nebraska's personality.
The bubbles will help the player in the same way the signs did in EoE. That is, they'll function as a tutorial.
The bubbles will show of Nebraska's personality by showing out-of-place remarks at certain times. For instance, if Nebraska's health is really low, and he's in a fight, he'll say: "I wonder what's for tea…". Or, if he's poisoned, he'll say: "That's a nice shade of purple." (the screen tints purple when you get poisoned).
Don't worry if the thought of these bubbles annoys you, though. You'll be able to disable them from the options menu.
Chapter 2 - "Cinematics"
There will be a beginning cinematic and an ending cinematic. They'll probably just involve Nebraska standing there, talking. Nothing fancy.
If I have enough time, I may use that overlay style for some parts of the cinematic (think Mage Craft). That is, I'll overlay the main screen, with Nebraska talking, with small images showing important stuff.
Chapter 3 - "Goals"
Okay, so I didn't complete all of yesterday's goals yesterday. There are still a few levels to worry about. But today is a new day.
Goals For Today
*
Make some levels. Because I didn't do enough of it yesterday.
*
Put in speech bubble system. If I can just put in the system, the rest will be easy.
*
Make beginning cinematic. I can always make the end one later.
Epilogue
That's the end of devlog #7. I think this devlog series should go up to ten, so it ends on Friday. Anyway, progress is progressing, and the game keeps getting closer and closer to completion.

Nice.
Awesomelooking.
Woo! The best thing is, I actually did everything I set out to do today. I finished Karoshi 2.0 as well =D.
The levels aren't TOTALLY finished though. But 9/10 of them actually exist, so I'm glad about that. Also, not all of Nebraska's lines have been put in yet, but I've done a good deal of them.
