Blog Title
———–Uhm I recently came apon this device on dabridges blog, and it seems really really cool. I'ts a handheld video game system, and the newest model, the f200 i guess has a touch screen along with a stylus like the ds. Except with one screen. It can play videos, music, and run emulators of old console such as the snes, which is the primary reason i want to buy it. (I'm sure most of you know this, this section is for those who don't.) It just looks like a really cool device. I was wondering if anyone has it, has heard of it, and/or would recommend this device? Gamemaker————–Not too much is going on really. If you haven't played melees old zelda game, you should. I didn't get to far into it, but it looks really well made.Random———-Halo 3 is really the shit. I'm getting a laptop for christmas if i don't bomb my finals. I have a strange craving for peanut butter at the moment. I like whip cream. Wireless mice piss me off. I wanna get the Razer Deathadder mouse. (look it up on bestbuy.com)Me and TDOT are starting a little "studio" and were gunna hopefully make some games together. That should've really went into the gm section but im way to lazy to click back up there now. I also want COD4 for christmas. I heard it's amazing. 3 new Halo 3 maps come out the Dec 11th. I'm stoked. Oh and does anyone have any study tips for finals. I'm a freshman, and haven't taken any before, and I kindof need to do good. XD Laterrrr
I was going to pre-order GP2X-F200, but then music came in to our way, and I had to buy some pedals and other equipment ;D
Honestly, I saw it on stampede's blog first. I have no idea why I was on his page though. O_o
I'm defenetly getting it now(as in, I didn't even know if I was getting it before, today I know where I can get the money). It would be so awesome to have like, portable machine arcades. :DI'm getting it after christmas, I dont have enough money.
I've become involved in the GP2X scene recently, I own an F200. The touchscreen was only added in the f200 (which was released about a month ago), so there's only a few apps that make use of it at the moment (SCUMMVM being the most notable). Most f200's overclock to ~280mhz, the previous models varied widely (240 - 300mhz).
IMO It emulates most stuff very well, ie GBA, NeoGeo, SNES, Megadrive, MAME, etc. The performance barrier is currently set by the playstation emulator psx4gp2x thats still, apparantly, being worked on. At the moment a handful of games are at playable speeds (Wipeout XL, GTA 1 & 2, Resident Evil,Red Alert, etc).Another thing, you must use rechargeable batteries. Normal Alkalines last about 20mins. Rechargables last about 3-5hrs. Its important to realise that its a homebrew device, so plenty of apps require a bit of fiddling before they work. Here's the best up to date review: http://craig.gp2x.de/review/GP2XReview.htmlHoly cow! Scummvm already working on it? AWESOME!
My brother has the old GP2X. It's a decent machine with a quality build. There are lots of good emulators for it, one of the best being a Sega emulator. The only thing is that it's a niche homebrew handheld, so don't expect many professional developments for it!
Isn't the Deathadder the one where you can change the weight?
@E-Magination
He must have a really old revision, as the one my brother has feels pretty fine to me.
