Introduction

———————

Hey, everyone. Mainly this blog is about SK8, a game I'm planning on releasing into the 64D WIP database sometime very soon. I know it seems like I have 100 projects going on, I don't. The only games I am currently continuing work on are SK8 and Bones. Anyway, I'll basically be telling you about it and asking for your help.

GM

———–

Alright, so, onto the point of this blog: SK8. I've been around the GM community for a while, and I've also skated for a while; ever since I was around 9. Anyway, I never actually got real good at skating until I was around 12. In the time I've been at 64D (Or any other GM community), I've been appalled at the short amount of skateboarding games I've seen here, and anywhere else; hence my inspiration for SK8. SK8 is a side-scrolling skating game that will use GM Physics. You'll basically be rolling around either a free course, one you built yourself, or a campaign mode… skating. Now, this won't be any Tony Hawk 899 trick combo game. 'Combo' isn't really even a word in the skating realm. SK8 will be more about the realism of skating (Without the hurt.) Anyway, so far I've got just a menu and a test room where I'll be testing all the tricks and terrain, and an options menu where you can edit your deck and wheels.

Now, here's what I'll need your help in (People like sk8matrix can come in handy here.) Tricks. So far I've got a manual, ollie, 50-50 Grind, Tailslide, and a Frontside 50-50 Stall (In the game.). I need your help in deciding what tricks could be implemented into a side-scrolling skating game. You can invent new ways to do tricks since this'll be side scrolling, but please explain to me how the trick would be done on that platform. Thanks. (Sorry, no screenie. Too early, plus, I want it to be a surprise… Or, at least until I crack and show it to you all.)

Life

————

Third quarter ended today… W00T!! One more quarter and I'm outa heeya! (Meaning school.) The weather got nice. So I went out skateboarding. I have a nice 150$ deck, and some great Appleyard wheels+trucks. So I started out just playing around, and then I started to grind. The FIRST thing that happens when I come down on the rail? My trucks broke. >_> All for a freaking 50-50 grind, that's what I get. Thanks God. You owe me 75$.

Peace.

Ah, at last, a new skateboarding game!

Well, I'm a skater myself so I might come in handy too.

This might get you started about which tricks you could choose!

Okay, I might just as well handle out the newest version of gnarly. V2. Which has an level editor and much more stuff, maybe you could get some inspiration from there:

If you try it out, make sure to press F1 to check the controls.

If you feel that this is some kind of advertisment, which isn't my purpose since I just want to help you, just delete my post ;)

DAMN! I thought this blog was about me…

And combos aren't really real, allmost every trick has a set name.

for some good tricks: tricks

they should have a video under each trick of what it looks like

And my legs hurt for some odd reason, so i cant skate.

Sucks about the trucks, get some tensors, they haven't broken for me yet and I jump steps a lot.

Heh, sk8, funny you mention that site- that's where I go to learn all my new tricks. And yeah, I'll need some good truck ideas, I'll be going shopping in a bit. >_>

NO! Tensors bitch! They have perfect weight and don't break easily. And that site rocks.

Fabio 17 years, 9 months ago

Yeah it does. Anyway… prices? I don't really want to go over 80.
