I hope it's a April fools joke (and if it is they put too much effort) because I really do not like the new youtube. Not only is the new color scheme bland (black white blue gray) but it also has a terrible layout, with no lines anywhere to give that nice organized look, everything looks like it was just thrown out there. And the thing I hate most about it… a like and dislike button… -_-'You don't like or dislike things that people create, you rate them. You like and dislike comments or blogs or stupid facebook statuses, but you RATE videos or games or art or anything that involves more thought than "oh I like this." How am I supposed to rate, sorry, I meant press a button to indicate how I feel to a video that is average or somewhat a waste of time? Just not vote like/dislike at all? That is a step backwards in terms of trying to get more activity in my opinion.9812Google ruins everything.Edit: I was mainly talking about the video page, the front didn't change that much.
NOOOOO! what the heck is this shit. YT you failed me :´(
It's not an April fools joke and I think the new layout is not bad at all. It's just a matter of time till people get used to it.
Also the new rating system makes sense: it appeared that a great number of all votes are 1 and 5 star ratings, implying that people indeed like or dislike video's.Yeah, YT's 'new' look is rancid. The old one was superior.
They're merely fitting to Google's new look, if no one's noticed.
Anyways, a like and dislike button is a downer though.what with people and being scared of change? I don't care about the new layout I actually like how there seems to be less ads and the stats system is now available for people who didn't post the video
The new layout is much more practical, and the five start rating system yielded meaningless results. It's just something you have to get used to.
I had extreme difficulty finding the video description. And the rating (honestly, I didn't know it was thumbs u/down because it sucks that badly). I click my name in the top right, and it doesn't send me to my own page, but rather, a pullout tab which has my channel, and the other stuff that used to be ROLLOVER. So essentially, it adds 1 more click to everything. Yet when I go to the home page, there's a monstrosity of an ad in the MIDDLE of the page. Very annoying how in order to see what other people think of a video, you must thumbs up or down it. It used to be, I wouldn't watch a video if it had around 3 stars, because it obviously sucked. But now that I have nothing to base validity on, there's a higher chance of just stupid crap like rickrolls that can't ber prevented because you can't tell people, with a rating, what it is. Obviously, looking good, ad placement, and convenience is NOT the objective here. I like the highest rated comments also. Besides being a decent feature, 50% of them state the new design sucks.
And we thought the new channel design was bad.64D sucks now.

And really, what does google do poorly? Ads are merely there because Youtube was initially one of the worst businesses because it's upkeep heavily outweighed any profit.I think the rating system is better. Before, you couldnt tell really how people really rated. all music was rated 5 because people searched for what they liked. and so fourth.
also this is genious. If everyone hates the new system, they change it back and say April Fools! but if its good, they keep it lol. unless it is REALLLY a coincidence that it came out on april 1st.
