Well, I wasn't on yesterday on account of getting my service activation for my broadband (Which I now know, thanks to the customer support guy, usually gets about 4-6mbps). Anyway, I was overjoyed when I got home. I pretty much wrecked the study and the surrounding area with little bits of plastic and some telephone filters everywhere. Anyway, I got around to installing the drivers, and then my computer said to restart. So I did. When it was logging on and checking the modem,
It shut down. Unexpected. Completley.Anyway, I tried a few more actions and boom, the modem works. But, I am stuck with the lovely little blue screen. The blue screen of death. So I had to force the computer to turn off. then the modem stops showing it's USB light. Oh crap.I called the customer service guys and after being redirected a few times, a guy told me what to do. We walked trhough the installation stuff and then I got the blue screen again. His advice: Reinstall Windows. So, alright. I'll be reinstalling Windows sooner or later. Maybe I'll be able to get XP this time from the people who did my computer up from 98.Well, that sucks.
Lawl, reinstalling Windows sucks. It clears everything on your hard drive. =o
I honestly can't imagine a worse fate. =(I can give you explosives if need be…
The password is 'tomato sauce'Yes, some explosives will do nicley.
Anyway, I'm just going to shove the whole contents of my drives onto my new 40Gb drive and take it out. Then, I'm going to wreck the OS just for fun, and then, reinstall time.Wow, reinstalling windows? That's got to suck.
A LOTBut I guess nothing's worse than that.My computer is XP and you're tellingme mine sucks?Nevermind… It does…I had to reinstall windows a few months ago.Good thing it didn't have anything importantat the time…Uh, the OS isn't everything. You've got to take in what HDD's you've got, how much RAM, CPU speed, etc.
Not CPU speed, not type. "LOL I HAVE P4, BEST!!!!!!". No.Dude, you're using windows 98. That's why it's not working. 98 is horrible for setting modern stuff up. It took the most talented shaw install guy to get our modem set up on our 98, but when we got our new computer with XP, it was instantly working. So now the 98 is a depreciated mail server whose monitor I stole for my linux box.
Oh, and 7mbps still owns you.Heh i have 9 mbps!
I think you have a driver conflict, or your modem got intalled in such a way that when it enables, it short circuits. But the more likely proplem is that you are using windows 98. The best solution would be to get a new OS/Computer.Hah, I had 55mbps but then my wireless thing burnt out.
So I'm getting something with 108 mbps XDNice. Reinstalling Windows = INSTANT PWNAGE.
That really has to suck. You didn't even have a chance to backup your files did you?
