[FF]Random stuff/ RTS project

Hello i'm back did you all miss me? No? Oh well nevermind. I was just having what i call an internet break. I have a couple each year and during that break i will not use the internet for any longer than an hour each day. Why do i do this? I have no freakin idea. It usually tends to happen when i've been doing a lot of my website and then i just get bored with it. My site was supposed to be released christmas eve but.. meh. I am proud to say that it now does just about everything 64digits does which was my primary target: Make a 64digits :p don't know when it'll be finished so don't ask me. I am working on a chatroom at the moment which, for the benefit of those few people who have the link, can't yet be accessed from the site.

Also something I started working on during my internet break was a command and conquer style rts. I have just about mastered rts movement. If you have ever played a command and conquer game before then you probably know that you have to draw a box to select your units then click a spot and the selected units will move there.Well it took me nearly 2 days but i managed it:

I'm also doing all the sprites for the game myself and my brothers doing the music to make it original. But that means that i can't call it command and conquer. Anyone think of a good rts name?

As for the base i've done the power plant and the construction yard so far. They do animate but i couldn't be bothered making gifs:

And you can also take over civilian buildings like in red alert 2:

The spriting is taking more time than the coding at the moment since not only do i have to do the buildings but do destroy sequences and build sequences for the base buildings… but it is coming along nicely. Like my site i have no idea when i'll be releasing it by >_> but i hope it won't be too long.

The rts sounds interesting. Sprites are quite good I must say. I've never attempted an RTS before (not my kind of game), but I've often heard that the movement gives people 100 different kinds of issues.

Hence why it took me nearly days of constant work to do it :p

I never finish anything. Last time i finished a game was october 06 but i'm determined to finish this one.

You see, making good graphics to do stuff like that means you can't do cheap sprite fade type effects for destruction. I don't know how you people do all that

Oh i see. Hey wait… I had 49 friends, your favorite users got cleared meaning i had 48, you re added me i have 50…. doesn't add up :p

Because there has to be so many objects and stuff. I tried making an Age of Empire like game and I failed.
