My First Blog in maybe two years..Wow So Hello New 64digits people, Everyone from my days back in 2007-2008 left. I really miss this place it used to be so lively and such a great community. This used to be like facebook to me(as facebook is now) . With all the sharing and Learning and I loved all the people here. Now its kinda a empty wasteland, you know No one is around but Mods and like one or two users. I'm going to go out on a Limb here and say its because A: Game maker is Very Limited and everyone found this out all at once. or B: Because of all the Server down time. B is why I left.
So anyways I was looking Through all my old Posts and I really Can't believe how Dumb I was with computers back then. It was only 3 years? I have no clue what I was thinking. I said I was really good with computers but yet I didn't know what the word savvy meant or How much Ram was in my computer (Which is Wierd because I know for a fact I knew what I had in it @ 2007. It was 3gb at the time I upgraded it the same year I had bought it @ 2005 ) So I just wanted to Post this Blog To Redeem myself.. I have been Working on Computers for 6 years now to this Date and I attend a Trade School where I work on Computers, Electronics and Robotics. I am Studying for my MECP (Mobile Electronics Certified Professional) Certification (redundancy lol) It has to do with Installing Systems In Cars and Trucks along those lines. We Haven't Started the Computer Portion yet (this is where the redemption starts) But I have been working by myself these past years Building Computers, Taking them apart, Upgrading old computers to their very tip top maximum, Reading Hardware Stuff online, Benchmarks, collecting data in my mind Ect. I know just about everything their is to know about Computer Hardware and all my friends turn to me about Learning about New or Old equipment. In my Trade The Teacher rely's on me to help students along with their projects and Compete in School wide or even County wide Competitions A lot can happen in 6 years, A lot can even happen In 2 years. I try to do the best I can, To be the best I can be at what I do(more redundancy) Thanks for reading this :) Long Live 64 Digits! P.S. If you don't Believe me about know a lot about computer hardware, Shoot me a line I promise I won't google it and I'll answer you question or whatever to the best of my ability.
Awesome, my MSI motherboard has been a pain to live with, it's bios settings must be inncorrect because the only way for me to get it to work is taking out the motherboard's battery (thus it doesn't save the bios, resets the settings and lets my computer start up) If I don't this I get an overclocking error (I'm not overclocking) At first this was fine, but recently reseting the computer's time over and over again is wearing down on me, and it doesn't turn on all the time. My power supply is 650 WATTS and my cpu is a Core 2 DUO and to be fair here is a link to my motherboard.
So how can I get my computer to start up (consistently) without having to remove the battery from the motherboard.Oh and I remember you from before :DWhat kind of gates do cpus use?
Oh I see. Its true that The Cmos Battery taken out will not allow the BIOS to save, But then I don't see why you are getting that error if Its at the factory settings. I do Know some computers start up if the Clear bios setting is switched on with the Jumper on the Mobo. Other don't, There can be a Chance that your motherboard allows power to the bios even when the computer is turned off. I know this is a dumb question but have you tried unplugging it,leaving the battery out, and clearing the CMOS all at the same time? (im sure you have probably ) IF your like me then you consider every possibility to problems with hardware and this can be one. Also Check if you have a Busted Cap on your motherboard Some Manufactures use Low level, Crap China Capacitors on motherboards. If they Bust They Won't Necaserly kill your motherboard instantly but rather create Instability problems. their cheep to fix too. 1c online or $2 at radio shack. I mean with not being their its going to be hard to acctually figure out the true problem but write back I want to see if I helped in anyway.
@Meow44: Lol I think you got me, I have heard the Term Gates used with Cpu's before but I Don't Go as far as learn the Inners of the Cores on the Processor. I learn more general infomation things as Core Clock, Cache, Voltage, Bus Speeds, Square Waves, Sockets, Preformance.. ect. If you could Enlighten me on the subjected id be very happy :)Oh by the way Ferret Find the Values for the different Cables hooked to your Motherboard from your PSU. Turn the PSU on and Use a digital Multimeter to check if the voltage is Right. Although very unlikely your getting too many Volts. You may save your Next Motherboard from a harsh Death. :) oh and You do remember me? haha I think I remember you too from somewhere :) nice to see someone I knew from before is still on.
I haven't tried completely pulling the plug in fact, I'll see if that helps at all, but I doubt it because the back of the power supply has a switch to completely shut the power and I think that has the same results(I have to switch it off every time my computer doesn't start up, otherwise it just keeps trying to start up with worse and worse results) other than that I have tried those possibilities (including the busted cap one), and from everything I tried it comes down to the bios settings being the problem. I'm fairly certain that power is not running while it's off, otherwise I don't think my battery trick would work.
Damn it meow, I remember learning that cpus are made up of mostly gates but I forgot what kind.Edit, I haven't tried checking the voltage, and that could be the problem because the PSU is "environmentally friendly"… pfft.Pffft Enviorment My ass lol if your gonna get a 650watt PSU you don't want to be Green lol!! yeah about the switch, you are correct it has the same effect. im going to go out on a Limb and say NAND gates? .. I yahooed it xD yahoo sucks
How much ram do you have now?
I have 8Gb of ram along with a 2.6GHz Quad core processor. The downside is that I just have integrated graphics.I really need a new power supply so I can get a good GPU-LuisLol Luis I too Have a Extreme Overkill Bottleneck
I have 6gb of DDR2 1066 with a 2.7 ghz AMD Semprom 140 clocked to 3.5ghz (Just to hold me over, till the Phenom II X6's come out) and then I have a ATI Radeon 4850. Im going to skip a Generation of high power GPUs. Im going to buy a couple 5450s for my Arcade machines though so I can Run Dirt 2 with Tesselation and suchWhat Integrated Graphics do you have, ATI 3200, 4200 Intel x3100 x3500,x4500 Nvidia 7050, 7100,7150,8100,8200,8300? Don't know if Nvidia made the 9 series integrated i'm sure they did
