I remember back in 2007-08 when I bought my first High High end graphics card (ATI Radeon HD 4850) I tried Folding@Home and it slowed my computer to a crawl. Apparently it is a lot better now and it still helps fold proteins to help better understand cancer/Alzheimer's/etc. and aids research. Now you can set it to low/medium and have it only function while your PC is idling, so I thought I would give it another shot.
If anyone would like to join my team it is 228325, maybe we will make a difference? Let me know if you are interested, let me know if this post is against the 64 Cacti rules and I will take it down asap. Thanks! Gmwiz
I still use F@H, though I'm already part of a team unfortunately. Always nice to use it to turn your computer into a heat source when it's cold!
Oh yeah I remember it. I almost burned down my computer folding :(
I never really heard anything about this. Has there been any developments of research from this project?
Remember it but never used it. Thought it was cool. There were/are a TON of @home projects.
Here's a pretty big list: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_distributed_computing_projectsI remember, it's what you did before bit-mining. :/
