6/3/07 Platforming Shooter Example

Posted by Go Bologna on June 3, 2007, 10:58 a.m.

Well, my first blog. On Game Maker, I'm attempting to create a Platforming Shooter example. It features a guy wearing a blue baseball cap, a blue shirt, and a pair of jeans as the player. He carries a pistol and gets into gunfights with guys that wear red instead of blue. The example will be simple, yet effective. Here's what the player looks like:

<a href="http://photobucket.com" target="_blank"><img src="http://i183.photobucket.com/albums/x273/madkatmat/shootrunright2.gif" border="0" alt="Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket"></a>

Ain't he just adorable? The example will show how to make different enemy AI as well as a feature that makes you have to reload after each shot for a more realistic effect. The example can only be accessed using the registered version of Game Maker because it uses the "Create an Effect" action of Game Maker version 6.1 Registered Version. This example will only use basic code to make it easy to follow. I'm doing this only because I'm bored. I can't really progress in Kitty with a Jetpack right now, which makes things even more boring.

Thanks. I usually use artistic shading effects in my custom sprites. I'm glad it's appreciated.

I'm kinda new to 64 Digits, but I'm not new to Game Maker. I've been using Game Maker for years.
