Since about last year I was making a game (Rapture), but progress was suddenly stunted by massive amounts of homework and frustrations with Game Maker.
So I tried Java, no reason why, I just did it (I'm Human) and I got pretty familiar with the language so I decided to start making applications and such. After about half a year of the language I came up with this little application which allows me to make maps and such. My AP Computer Science teacher was pretty impressed so I didn't stop there. Took my time at home to get acquainted with Databases, Markup Languages, and Layouts in java. By the end of the year instead of making a small game in the programming language like the rest of the 2 people in my class were doing I decided to turn this in as my Final Project. At this time It can communicate with Databases using SQL, save and load custom Maps from an XML file, store Actors and Items into the database and retrieve them.I don't intend to stop improving it, but its consumed a large sum of my time, didn't go to senior prom (Despise it anyway) spend time with idiots or husks, or party. My routine was Exercise, Program, Coffee, Coffee, Coffee, Program, Sleep at maybe 2:30am. I don't regret any of it though. People are stupid dicks and they don't need me around to sell themselves short of a quality life. Hopefully this picture shows:Its improved ten-fold from the preview versions. There's still loads to do liek:Enable Room SimulationFigure out how to properly get precise polygons on Buff-Img's (I'm pretty close)Memory leak cleanup.Ill keep updating as I progress.
Welcome back.
Every time I hear of a game being done in Java I think "MINECRAFT RIPOFF". I hope you understand.
