I just started playing Starcraft recently, bought the disc off a friend who had a spare copy. Yeah, can't believe I didn't have this game a lot sooner, it's awesome. So now, they're announcing Starcraft 2. Sweet. Maybe I won't suck at it with everyone on the same level? Probably not, it looks like they're keeping a lot of the same elements. But whatever.
As a Starcraft noob, I don't have a damn clue what I'm doing. Well, I'm figuring it out, anyway, but I still suck and am terribly slow. Can anyone spare a noob some strategy tips? I play Terran… because it's the only race I really know well, lol. So yeah. Need tips!In other news, I haven't done much with GameMaker. I edited X3D to include a mode to demonstrate rotational solids, for my calc teacher for extra credit. I'll probably use that to put in a 2D mode, and release that update. Well, probably not, I'm much too lazy to get off my ass and do that, I'm only saying that I will.Yeah, haven't been able to do much, with school winding down, final exams and end-of-the-year projects all over the place, 2 AP exams, and a bunch of random crap.So yeah, that's prety much it.
Starcraft far outshines warcraft. Why else would they take so llong to make a sequal? They had to be sure to get every detail absolutely right or the fans would riot.
I have been playing Starcraft for 9 years and I'm proud of it.
Warcraft III is not better than starcraft, its just a very different style. Warcraft III is based on small amounts of units, while Starcraft isn't. Starcraft is not better than Warcraft III as well.I just watched the video for Starcraft 2 and I basically pissed my pants when I saw the Protoss Mothership warp in. The black hole, is so, SO, SOOOO cool looking. Each unit sucked into it actually gets completely distorted into a swirl. So cool.Buy Starcraft if you don't own it and you like to play games. It's worth the $20.The distortion was pretty good, I never saw such an effect before. But I have to agree with Foslock and Shork. The gameplay is very different, and it depends if you're the type of person who likes to get straight down to the art of micro, or the person who likes casting spells and having heros. Starcraft isn't even 20$ anymore, it's pretty cheap now, but it is the king of RTS. Only graphics and different gameplay outshines it.
I'd reccomend watching good quality SC videos, maybe a few on youtube. Pros like Nada have extremely high actions per minute and tactical strategy is instinctual (National Geographic study shows Starcraft Pro-gamers play the game on INSTINCT.)Even SC can focus on spell casting if done right, and can really help zerg tear apart just about any enemy. Using Defiler's dark swarm with hydralisks or even zerglings makes them virtually invincible so that massed photon cannons, dragoons, bunkers, battecruisers, carriers, etc are easy targets. The queen's spawn broodling lets you kill a siege tank instantly, creating 2 melee guys who can attack nearby siege tanks without getting hit, and better yet, force other siege tanks to fire on the tanks they attack.
one of your examples that I downloaded is gz, and I have no idea where to re-download gzip… Uhm, yeah. make it a gm6.
Dude, wtf. I uploaded all .gm6 files but they changed to .gz
Ack. I don't know what happened. Try just renaming the file extentions.I was reading on that stuff just awhile ago…
