Should i release tetris....?

Posted by HeroofTime55 on Sept. 14, 2006, 10:01 p.m.

I might release a pre-release demo of tetris here in this blog, for the purpose of fixing whatever in it is bad. JakeX told me "we can totally arrange for a nice little highscore table for your game", so i want to make sure the release is perfect. I wonder if the copyright for tetris has run out? Because If it hasnt, i will sell the final version at school (you guys will get it for free, cause i dont know this e commerse stuff). The final version will be equipped with Online Multiplayer, so people would probably pay for that :P

Well, i'm getting tired now, so i'll prob release a pre-beta version tomorrow. Still looking for MKDS opponents, check my previous blog for my friend code.

Oh, i uploaded my song "hello world" to http://themusiclib.com out of boredom. It's the 50th song uploaded there, kinda a milestone i guess. a small one.

A copyright license lasts for like 80 years. (According to a law website)

You see those clone games a lot anyway. Release it if you want. The Russian guy that invented Tetris wouldn't probable come knock on your door. :P

Copyrights last 75 years after the creators death

Just make the game and sell it. Tetris is copyright, but many Tetris clones have been sold, and no one got arrested. Maybe call it something like Tetris, but a little different.

I looked it up: "the tetris company" only holds the trademark to the name, but its not allowed to copyright the gameplay.
