who cares? does the setting in a story decide if it's any good? or if the structure to the story is any more unique than another? they're all in different settings but that's doesn't make it any more enjoyable to me.
Just because the show isn't enjoyable to you, doesn't mean the show isn't unique and isn't enjoyable to others.

I think Adventure Time is actually pretty creative with its (bizarre) setting. It's not just random shit thrown together - that would get boring pretty quickly (like Superjail *cough*) - but every episode is genuinely different and has some new gimmicks.

Also, I enjoy the deconstruction of fantasy stereotypes.

it's not that unique and clearly other people enjoy it. that's why it's on the TV. i just can't see what people like about it. my loss i suppose. i didn't laugh at any of it. the only type of comedy i like is stand-up and i sometimes watch SouthPark which isn't all that funny most the time but has some interesting moments.

well i give up lol. i just won't get it.

well, I don't get why people like MLP, yet I don't bash the show and say it's not a creative show, it's not funny and that many other shows feature talking animals on it.

i just watched an episode of this for the first time… it's pretty strange. defiantly a cartoon network show that's for sure. nothing really impressive about it. standard american child's cartoon.

i watched an episode of this and… i couldn't make it all the way through. i don't see what ever you people see… you's must be on drugs.
I think we've established that death's not the kinda guy who enjoys modern cartoons. Which is perfectly fine.

I already wrote an entire blog on why MLP is good and different. I'm not on drugs - hell, I don't even drink - so that's certainly not why. As for Adventure Time:

* The setting is really imaginative and cool. I don't think any other cartoon has managed to blend so many different sci-fi and fantasy motifs into one (relatively) coherent setting. Not to even mention left-field stuff like Lumpy Space, knife rain and Door Lords.

* As in MLP, the characters aren't annoying. Finn is a really likable kid who undergoes some development throughout the show, and Jake's really laid back and awesome.

* The show's got heart. I don't know how to explain it in any other way. That's what takes it above and beyond other random bizarre stuff happens cartoon. You can really cheer for the main characters, rather than just laugh at them.

* The jokes are really funny. And also terribly dodgy at times. How do they get some of this stuff on a kids' cartoon?

* As in MLP, the music's excellent. Finn's autotuned singing in S1, Marceline's song, the excellent tunes in the recent episode "What Was Missing" (a MUST WATCH).

MLP and AT are really quite similar in a lot of ways, and that makes them good (in my eyes). Likable characters, imaginative settings that seamlessly combine fantasy trappings with more modern ones, excellent music, and creators who pay attention to their internet fanbases.

I should do a blog on this sometime…

Death enjoys watching the Mr.T cartoon from the late 70's.

He keeps waiting for Mr.T to rape one of the kids.

But it never happened.

Ever since then, it's all he can watch until it happens.
