Done. Sorry I took so long. PMs rolling out sent

I wanted to get as much done as possible, so you guys can pretty much test most of the game. It's around 70% complete, so you guys are almost pretty much testing the final version.

Gimme feedback here or through PM, doesn't matter.

Actually gimme feedbeck thru dis blog. It'd be much easier for me to read through for any bugs and such you might experience.

wooo

I'm just gonna leave a list of things here, prolly will add things as I play

- Is that first enemy in the room with the crossbow supposed to be killable, or am I just supposed to run away? 'cause I've died twice there now after unloading as many crossbow bolts into him as possible..

EDIT: lolnvm i just killed him by spamming bolts as soon as i saw him get up

- when hitting "Esc" to go to menu, player character disappears (seems like a glitch)

JID 12 years, 2 months ago

Nah, the player disappearing after hitting Esc isn't a glitch. It's intentional.

I did it to avoid glitches, actually.

And the first guy is killable. I made him a bitch to kill on purpose, to make him feel terrifying. Oh, and enemies take random amounts of damage(within a boundary, of course). I did that because I want enemies to feel threatening, and I don't want the player to memorize how many shots an enemy takes before they die. I want players to constantly to be on their toes and feel like they could really die at any moment, because, seriously, just about anything could happen in the game.

I've already told Qwilder on Steam, but you don't know yet; enemies spawn randomly at random places, take random amounts of damage and random useful items will spawn, plus random and strange/creepy things could happen sometimes(other than enemies trying to kill you).

I think the player not knowing what to expect is what makes a true horror game.

oh okay cool

Yeah I saw in the readme the thing about random spawning and such…I felt so lucky when I wound up with 24 bolts and full potions.

Then enemies started spawning. D:

also i'm kinda stuck as what to do after getting that key in the servant's room, still messing around though

JID 12 years, 2 months ago

Servant's room..? you've gotten past the cabin in the wood's part already? D:

if you've gotten past that, there isn't much else to do in the beta. There are a few rooms that i have, that just aren't accessable in the beta just yet.

lolyeah

So I wasn't going insane when I was trying to get up the ladder in the servant room and through the door in the well passage and nothing was happening then XP

On a side note, it is possible to exploit the random drops thing by continually going in and out of doors and researching chests..

(which is kinda nice in a way because of the random enemy spawning, but it still does feel kinda strange to be able to find crossbow bolts in chests that were previously empty)

EDIT: it's also possible to get more than 5 health potions if you already have 5 when you find one in a chest XD

EDIT2: aw man it reset the potions to 5 when i left the room

D:

It didn't reset my crossbow count though :D
