In other news, I went to a Radiohead concert in Seattle two nights ago. It was an incredible experience. If they play in your area, worry not about silly things like money, simply go. It is the only concert I have been to where the visual effects really added something awesome to the songs - the light show was excellent, very intense, very fitting, very unexpected in spots. The sound quality was also fantastic. They played many of my favorite songs - "Pyramid Song," just about every song from In Rainbows, and "No Surprises," which is one of my very favorite songs ever (but they didn't play "Let Down" or "The Tourist", which calls for a :( ). Really, my only complaints are that I was very, very far away from the stage, I got badly rained upon, and the people around me made noise at all the wrong moments (like that long, high falsetto note in the middle of "Nude") and I felt a desire in my heart to strangle them as they sucked down their drugs and filled the air with gagsome smoke, distracting those of us who actually knew the songs. I don't know about anyone else there, but I went for the music. In any case, though, the music was mindblowing, emotionally intense, and very, very well-played. Them folks know what they're doing. Nigel Godrich was there too, which got a big cheer from me.

LIFE, MUSIC, ETC.

I go back to school Monday. So that sucks. I acquired a large number of CDs this summer, because I had a job. Building bicycles. So if you ever need advice about, um, bicycles… yeah. It's weird, considering I knew nothing about bikes at the beginning of the summer, and still am not too interested in them. Anyway, perhaps the CDs I bought shall help me through this year, which I don't see myself enjoying much, as practically all of my friends, and all of the people I'd care to befriend, graduated last year. Among my acquisitions:

The new Sigur Ros album, the one with naked folk on the cover. Some name in Icelandic, about buzzing in the ears and endless playing.

Vampire Weekend. They have really neat, classical-sounding string arrangements, and just a wicked sound and good songwriting in general.

Elliott Smith - Figure 8. One of the most brilliant songwriters of all time, I am convinced.

The White Stripes - Get Behind Me Satan. I didn't like them too much for quite a while, but I kind of dig this album.

Radiohead - Hail To The Thief. Because I didn't have it yet.

The Beatles - Rubber Soul. Some of the best, most concise songwriting ever to exist, plus it has "In My Life," which is one of my favorite songs, on it.

The Flaming Lips - Clouds Taste Metallic. Not much like their later work, but I love it anyhow. It is one of very few albums that can make me happy almost no matter what.

Modest Mouse - The Moon And Antarctica. It actually kind of disturbs me how immediately likable I found Modest Mouse, when I finally decided to listen to them. I find them immensely unpleasant at times, but also brilliant. Sometimes both at the same time.

Yeah. That's more than enough for now. Um. I'm back.
