So my teacher tells me about LOTR Online, a new MMORPG. He doesn't like WoW because it's too cartoonish. He says that there an open beta for a month, and that anyone can play it for free. Of course I get it right away, and have been playing for 8-10 hours each day now(yes, I have no life).

It's pretty awesome, but has a lot in common with WoW. Of course, all MMORPGs made now will have something in common with WoW. The land is huge, I'm not sure how big WoW is, but it takes 30 minutes to walk from Bree to the closest town in the Shire. There's not many people there though since it's a new server, older server have a lot more people.

Since it's an open beta, there's some things you can't do. There's a lv15 cap and there's now PvP, unless it's a duel. Which is fine by me because I don't usually fight others. The lv15 cap isn't that bad, you get a lot of skills by then.

For races you get:

Human(m/f)

Elf(m/f)

Dwarf(male only, no females remember?)

Hobbit

For classes:

Hunter-Uses bows

Champion-Fighter

Guardian-Fighter

Minstrel-Uses music, I think

Lore-Master-A mage

Captain-Uses buffs to strengthen team

Burglar-Uses stealth

In the game you can make a Fellowship, a group of members that can do quests together. With a certain combination of classes you can get a reward for having a Fellowship. You can also make kinships, which are clans I suppose.

There's also a lot of skill set you can choose like Forester(uses wood to make bows+weapons) and other ones. I don't remember them because I only have 1 character.
