I was meant to be getting it for my birthday in march but sony pushed the release date back so this is a very late birthday present. I managed to be one of the 300 people who got booking at smiths. Now all I have to do is wait to 14-17 november.

Yeah, it sure is. Kaz; How is the PS3 a computer? I mean, sure, its very up-to-date when it comes to hardware, but so is the 360… And it came almost a year ago.

or u can buy the cheaper version for 400 bucks. oh & it's not upgradeable. If u really have the money get a custom made ps3. Ur gonna love ur $800+ paper weight, u could plug it in the bathroom & drop it in the water while u bathe. Probably the best way to go after u buy that piece of shit! lol
The biggest problem with the ps3 is thats its an overpiced piece of crap. Honestly. sony soiled themselves at their press conference. They stand no chance in the video game industry.

it was supposed to but instead of 23 gb for one disk you have 40 gb in one disk… it's way better and cheaper (you don't have to buy the blu-ray player) to get 2 23gb disks instead of 1 40gb disk… what the heck are they going to do with tons of memory? it's stupid… and no, mixah man, the cheaper version is 499 and the expensive one is 599… (or you're right, i'm not really sure)
check this out, a blu-ray drive is around a grand ($1000 err) no more no less… the ps3 "needs" a blu ray drive cuz they are hardcore… they are selling the console for $400-$600.. so basically sony is losing money! bye bye playstation, ur grave is ready right next to the dreamcast. :D Oh don't forget u need a HDTV too.. gotta invest on a newer tv set so u can "appreciate" the awesome graphics
In technical terms, the PS3 is very far from being overpriced. It's simply more than what many of us are willing to pay (like me). I'm getting a Wii though, cause I'm a Nintendo fan.
PS3 is overpriced… and it is going to lose a lot of support from developers this time around, because nobody can afford it. Just like the PSP, Sony is putting their money on technology over innovation. The PS3 will be jack of all trades, and king of none.
I feel sorry for whoever is buying you that PS3. They are prolly going to drop about $1k just to get you the system, a game or two, and a couple of controllers. [:(]
