Ok, guys. I need your help. I've finally got weapon switching working on the game, but I had to completely remake the engine.
I need to know how well it runs on other computers. I can't judge by mine because, I have a new computer with 2.6GHz Quad core CPU and 8Gb of Ram.So, here's the file:-W,A,S,D to move and Jump-Press Shift while walking and you will sprint.-Left mouse button to shoot and stab.-Middle mouse button to Switch weapons.-F to switch the laser on and offAlso, the enemies you fight are not the permanent ones. As you will see, they are the same sprites as the main character. That will change, so don't mention any of this…Anyway, Please tell me how many FPS you get. The number is in the bottom right hand corner in big white letters. You can't miss it.The target FPS is 60, so tell me if you get below that and what your Specs are.Thanks.
Perfect performance here on my 2.6GHz Dual core, 3.5GB RAM, 1GB VRAM Windows XP PC.
Nice link by the way.Well, since you got to play it in 60 FPS, I have to ask.
What do you think so far?-LuisIf you shoot the AI and you're far away enough it doesn't do anything. You might wanna fix that. Knife controls were kind of bleh, I'd much rather hold the mouse button down and have some constant attack thing, but that's just me. When you shoot the left and right borders of the room dust comes out.
The graphics are pretty cool. Thanks for the feedback. I really need to know what the minimum specs are for this game. I want as much people to be able to play it as possible.
@CyrusThanks for the info. Hopefully it runs well on the Pentium 4.@MMORPGguyYeah, the AI still needs work, and I'm working on the dust thing. Also, the knife is sort of like the crowbar in half life. It's what you use when you run out of ammo.-LuisConsidering how short the robots arms were, the knife will probably just get annoying. Instead, I would utilize that awesome drill on the robot and make it so you can jump on the enemies to damage them. Graphics were really sharp! Ran fine on my computer:
AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core Processor (3.01 GHz) 3.0 GB RAMGeForce 8600 GTSGuess I happen to have the crap computer. Well… good news everyone! It works fine on my Pentium 4 2.8GHz 1GB ram.
Perhaps tilting the robot in the direction he moves might make it looks smoother? Otherwise he has nice posture. What do you mean by fine?
Was it 60 FPS?That's what it needs to be.-LuisUsing a Intel 1.8ghz dual core with 3gb ram and a intel gma on board graphics card, ran 60 fps. Nice graphics, but the knife range seems shorter than it actually looks.
For a little better of a idea on how it ran, I ran it on one of my netbooks(they're pretty much the same except size/screen) which is a intel atom 1.6ghz "single" core, 1gb ram, 224mb shared intel GMA 955. It showed some random fluctuation when not moving, but otherwise stayed/played at 60fps.
Thanks. The netbook specs really help.
It appears that so far, it's running pretty good.-Luis
