I finally updated my texture pack. It works with the latest snapshot of the game. Also, by "updated" I mean that It's just updated. I didn't customize all of the new things in the game so far. Just some the of the new stuff is still the default texture until I can come up with a good enough texture for them.
So, here's how it's coming along.Screenshots:You can get it here.By the way, I like adfly because I can update it really easily, but if you have something against downloading stuff through there, you can get it here. (If I update again, this link will be obsolete, while the adfly link will always provide the latest version.)
I think everything looks great except for the diamonds and the redstone. I wish the ores for them looked more like the original Minecraft version.
I got Minecraft three days ago and haven't touched it.
I guess this is a good place to start…I hope you know, you're most likely going to hate it at first, because there's going to be a lot to learn.
Also, use caves to your advantage.
You'll most likely start building in vast, pleasing, plots. Build around a cave network/desert/ravine.Man, I remember the first day I got Minecraft. It was the day Halo Reach arrived from Amazon. I didn't even touch halo for about a week or two. It was really unexpected.
When I first started playing minecraft I a "skyway" connecting a bunch of trees to keep me safe from the monsters on the ground =p
And yeah actually I think diamond is my least favorite of the ores. I guess part of it is the size of the ore looks kinda silly when you can see more than one side. While the default ores look like little pieces inside the block which is more natural looking.I love this pack. I've been using it for awhile now. I especially like how well most blocks tile, by having a similar pattern (cobblestone, smoothstone, snow, ores, etc).
I think the diamond would look nicer if it was just the one crystal, which occupies less of the block face.Hmm, now that I think of it SMP, you may have a point about the diamond. I've been thinking for a while that I need to add a texture switcher on my site just like the Painterly Pack. Then I wouldn't have to worry about which ones are the default ones since they would be switchable.
KaBob also makes a good point and this does make me want to change it now. Hmm…I've been thinking about programming a minecraft texture database site, would you guys use it? It would be kinda like the painterly site except anybody could submit pieces of a texture then you could make "packs" out of those textures and share/rate them, or create your own custom combination. I've never actually used painterly, but from what I've seen it doesn't let you save your choices for later editing does it?
