39dll (winsock) and a new banner

Posted by Magicman657 on June 27, 2006, 5:09 p.m.

Well I started recoding my server stuff with 39dll. Only thing is, I'm unsure how to get it to connect right. I've been playin with it for a while now and it's probably somethin stupid, but if you have experience using 39ster's winsock dll please msn me (magicman657@hotmail.com). Other than that, you may notice my new banner, which I just spent like an hour trying to make. I like it, I think it fits my whole "magic" theme.

I know very little about 39dll. The farthest I got was having 2 blocks move on seperate computers.

Very nice banner. Have you seen 39ster's mmorpg example? The only thing I really remember about it was it used constants to tell the difference between sockets for chat and for other stuff. Just an optional thing. You should search for it on the GMC.

Yea I looked at the mmo example, it doesnt help with the problem I have.

Same, the main difference is my game runs only on tcp instead of upd/tcp.

I know a bit about winsock.

Also, your banner isn't that great. The text is uninteresting, and it's a bit blurry.

Instead of gaussian blur use urban dream, check out this tutorial:

Your banner dosen't look like it has depth.

And, yeah, the text does look a little blurry. Looks like it came straight out of a low-res RPG.

And WHY would you use gaussian blur on TEXT? You can use motion blur and blend it in by making a layer copy, but GAUSSIAN BLUR?

Magicman657 18 years, 5 months ago

Um, that IS motion blur on the text. THere is no gaussian blur anywhere. It's all motion.

And right now I don't care about the banner as much as I do making Winsock work.
