Chirping pigs!

Posted by Moikle on Feb. 1, 2008, 3:05 p.m.

I know i havn't blogged for a long time, because i have had lots of homework, but what has just this minute happened was incredible!

I have two guinea pigs called Boing and Scruff, Boing is mine, where as Scruff is my brother's. so here i was, working on my platform example/game and i hear this quiet *cheep* *cheep* sound coming from their cage which is next to the computer, at first i didn't know what it was, so i had a look, Boing was sitting on the minneral lick, and making the noise, it grew in volume over about a minute, and sounded just like a small bird.

I had heared about this before in a book, and apparently, it is very VERY rare! Even some of the most experienced breeders havn't heard it, where as these are my first guinea pigs and they are not even a year old yet!!

we caught the event on a sound recorder on my mum's phone, i tried to capture it on video on the comuter, to no avail, due to a slow webcam (*damn!!*)

I am so lucky to have seen this as it is a once-in-a-lifetime (or more than once-in-a-lifetime) event! i feel so proud of my Boing!!

Scruff, my brother's guinea pig just sat and watched her, transfixed he was, silent and seemingly cautious.

hope to blog again soon!

I know, they're bigger than hamsters and they cry and chirp all the time. >_>

@kabob and skulldust they do make squeaking noises all the time, but chirping sounds very different! I think you forget that I have told you that i was right next to them when it happened. even a guest to the house that has never seen them before (my uncle), knew that it was something different.

they make a lot of noises, but chirping is different (they do make *chirp chirp* noises all the time, but chirping is the official term for when they go into a trance and make this realy loud noise, over and over.)
