Level Editor Video

Posted by Mordi on Dec. 18, 2011, 4:58 p.m.

Here's a video of the level editor in our Hamster-based platform shooter so far:

It's vertex-based, and I think it's really easy to use. There is also the possibility to import any texture of your choosing, and this will be saved to the level file itself. I'm already dreading the day when we'll get to see goatse.ptl after we release this…

See my previous entry for more info on the game:

We have also set up a proper development blog here:

man your GUI is so good!! amazing work. I really like good level editors. Though of course it has to contribute enough to the gameplay to be useful. Maybe to come up with levels you can give it out to people.

cant wait to see this game in a more playable form. really.

Cool! Thanks for the UI compliment.

In Pinktards (the spiritual predecessor to this) we made a fully fledged level-sharing website. This time I think we'll make it so you can upload/download levels from within the game, as well as rate/comment.

Looks very interesting. And well done GUI much like AG said. Is this made in GM?

Opps. I see it's made in XNA! Ooh, I hear porting to XBL? :)

Nice gui and style! I wonder if you're going to have destructible environments, cause that might be a bit tough with vector-based geometry.

Anticipating!

Man, why is your stuff always so impressive? Your menus have always been so beautiful.

Amazing job, as always!

Thanks. We're still discussing destructibility. It's definitely possible in some form, but whether or not the performance-sacrifice is worth it and it makes the gameplay any better remains to be seen. It'll probably be a long time until we get that done in any form anyway.

Right now we only have the editor, most of the menu and the lobby/in-game networking down in it's simplest form.
